maybe if it's going to be a current japan map you could have shinkansen (bullet trains) instead of ports.

that's better. i think you should move tokyo further to the left though.

also are you planning on doing a "city" bonus thing?

one more thing, can you make the bonus area borders more prominent, it's really difficult to tell where one ends and another begins

unit_2...apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

i'd like to see another version of this map with Hokkaido in it, and perhaps a reduced number of terts that are going to allow good game gameplay, your bullet train idea is good.
Can i enquire what software you are using?

you could add hokkaido on the upper left side in a box like most real US maps do with alaska and hawaii, and still have lines go to it where other territories can attack from?

right now i am useing paint( i'm only useing this for gameplay since it is very hard to use the gimp or photoshop program, thought i am learning how to use them.)

i am trying to add-in Hokkaido, its kinda hard to add it since it has to be in a box and has to connect to the other territorys.

i was afraid you'll say that. my sincere advice is to learn photoshop fireworks gimp or inkscape and then start making a map. with paint you won't get very far.

-change background to look more realistic water
-What's the Isle doing in that black square?
-Why you only use Red and Green as territory colours?
-The outerglow of some continents are weird...why dark green has a teal outerglow?
-Your territory borders are not clear in some continents but sometimes they are too clear...
-There is to much open space, put some pictures in the sea or a nice map border....
-...

Play a bit around with some things, learn how to use the program...You will get there

this is definetly an improvmenet on your skills unit

do as gnome says youll get there

the big concern here color coordiantion.

study hte color wheel and you will learn to use there relationships to find colors that work together.

e.g. opposite colors if used right complement each other. (for example a purple/yellow, blue/orange, red/green.)
What do you know about map making, bitch?

looking better. when it comes to color selection, I like to find an image that captures the feel of what I am trying to create and I pull the color palette from it... 19th century japanese art would give you one style, while a contemporary anime palette would be completely different.

unit_2...i think the colours above are definitely a progression in the right direction for Japan...to start you've used the Cherrl Blossom flower pink for one of the regions. :)

I'm not entirely happy with the water....it has too much happening in it...Japanese style is more subtle and unimposing....like the background that was presented for the chinese checkers map....take a look at that but use your own ideas.

Also, for future updates, can you coordinate the colours in your legend with the colours of the region please.
