I think I'm lost...help?

Postby goldeneye923 on Sun Mar 15, 2009 2:48 am

Hi,

I just recently signed up and I think I'm in some games over my head. Is there a place on here that explains the different type of games...doubles, triples, quads, etc. Also, could someone explain how teams work? Does 1 person have to own all of the territories to get spoils or does team squares count? It appears as though I can place my armies on teammates squares....is that correct? Thanks

Hey goldeneye. In a team game, your team acts like one unit; you win together or lose together. You can deploy troops on a partner's territory, but to get a continent bonus, one person needs to hold it themselves. A good way to do this is by moving your troops onto your partner's territory, and have them conquer the 1 man territories that are left. Also, use the chat box a lot to coordinate your strategies, but make sure to select 'show message to team only'. Hope that helps. ;)

Found a couple of links when I searched on "team games" in the Strategy forum of the General Discussion. I have no idea if the advice they give is good or not, but it should at least explain the basics.

Also, there is a new mentoring program for team games. You might be able to submit those games there??????

dont get overwhelmed... your not expected to know everything at first...

I do suggest you perhaps get a mentor for team games, or stick to singles for just a bit to get used to it, if you care about winning...but that isnt to say you cant be competitive...

there are many that will help you out...so ignore any that complain, and stick with it above all else...my guess is however, you may enjoy some single games or even 1v1 at first more though...just avoid very tricky settings, fog, freestyle and big maps...and you should be fine :D

So what do the doubles and triples mean? And how do I track down a mentor?

It looks to me like you picked some pretty tough maps.
I've never won on Bamboo Jack... so I'm no help there.
Doubles means you have one partner, triples 2 partners and quads, you are playing with 3 players and yourself.
AA is right. Stick to singles games until you get a feel for things, and stay away from the complicated maps until you get a little more experience.

If you'd like some help, feel free to PM me. I'm not a great player, but I kinda know what I'm doing, sometimes. ;)

As long as it's not waterloo or Bamboo Jack!

Most of all, have fun! And ignore the dickheads!

Cheers and welcome!
