RjBeals wrote:Ruben - I'm not to crazy about your background here. The faded photo with a plaster type filter used on it kinda feels cheap. I know San Marino is surrounded by Italy - so have you thought of adding a non playable map around this one, kind of like I did for Italy? I think it would really help this map visually. You could keep San Marino raised from the background with a drop shadow, or bevel?

You need to change your Torri symbols in the legend to match the map.

I see a white line at the very top of the map - like the background image didn't extend far enough.

If you decide not to change the background, I think your light green legend background clashes with the greyish background image. Have you experimented with different colour schemes?

Oh - and I still think the blue words in your legend are too close in colour. It's hard to tell which region they are referring to. Your region colors look good.

Hi RJ. I'll start answering your points in sequence. :)

[*] Hmm. I don't know about the background RJ. San Marino is surrounded by Italy. Your Italy map is surrounded by many states which have borders and a shape. I don't think it would work in this case unless you have some suggestion? I could only add a very very minute portion of Italy which has no shape or border and that doesn't make sense to me. What do you think?

[*] The torri symbols will change once I set up the torri poll. People need to choose which version they want. I have a selection of 5. Don't worry this is being taken care of.

[*] Hmm hadn't noticed it. Maybe it's a result of the bevel effect or something. I'll try to fix it.

[*] I'm not satisified with the legend box either. I'll do some work on it as well.

[*] Blue words? You mean the region names?

Thanks for your comments RJ. Always appreciated.

I'm against making the background Italy for many of the reasons Ruben has laid out already. It'd be plain and boring. But, I don't really like the current background either. Maybe you could mess with the filters/layer effects/whatever to make it look different? I do like the image you're using, just not the way it's been presented.

Thanks for your suggestions RJ. I'm still undecided but I'll give it some thought. The 3rd option looks ugly. The 1st one is not so bad. We'll see.

I like the title, but not the bonus box. I feel it should have rounded corners.

That's a minor issue but I actually prefer it the way it is.

On a separate note I'd like to see more people vote for the "torri" poll before making that graphical change. The poll closes on Wednesday.

It does seem to oddly clash with the rest of the uniformity.

Yes, but things don't necessarily need to be always uniform. I don't think it's such a big issue or an eye sore.

Apart from that any further comments?

I think this may be my last concern about the bonuses... I continue to feel that on a small map you have to be careful about setting bonuses too high. I'm cool with everything but Borgo Maggiore; a +6 for five territories? I know it's going to get hammered on every side and by every player, but I still think it's a bit steep. Anybody else think a +5 would be more appropriate? (If not, tell me and I'll back off.)

Out of curiousity, have you run this through one of the excel spreadsheets that calculate bonuses? The one I use is:

Hehe. Actually only you and I have commented on the bonuses so far. The other users did not have any feedback to give about that issue. I am not sure about Borgo Maggiore. Maybe you're right because Serravalle has only 4, but Borgo Maggiore will be impossible to hold as well so a +6 might be a decent reward. :-k

I did not even know that there were excel sheets that calculated the bonuses! I will check that one out. Thanks.

I went with A in your poll as it corresponds to the symbol used in your round emblem. :)

Thanks for your vote cairns.

If the result remains so close I will have to extend the duration of the poll. It was planned to close tomorrow. We'll see.

I voted for C - it was a toss-up between that and D.
The perspective on A looks a little wrong.

I didn't realise that you'd gone with A before I voted - but it looks better on the map than I thought it would.
The only thing that bugs me is the straight/flat line on the bottom... could you add a 1 or 2 px feather to the bottom edge just to soften it?

Hi Ben. Yes the poll had been going on for a while and I even extended it by a couple of days since A and D were very close. I will try to refine the bottom edge in the next update. Thanks.
