OK...here is Version 7 with some major changes.
1. The territory colours have been enhanced and made bolder for easier identification.
2. The gold mine colours are reduced somewhat. Overall this makes the names stand out even more.
3. Some neutral numbers have been added to terts that would start as neutrals.
4. Title changed from the The New Kingdom to the The Gold Kingdom
5. I found the word nobo which means gold in nubian. I have added this as a prefix to create some original names conjuncted with the egyptian numbers for 1 to 10 and then added 10+1 to make 11 etc.
Therefore nobo-wa means gold-one. This does create original names for these territories.

To do:
1. fill that area above the Desert Roads with some artwork.
2. tidy the desert roads
3. resize the gold mine terts
Thanks TaCktiX

Looks a lot better overall. I couldn't read the number in the gold mines before. The 2nd and 3rd cataract region look very similar to me colorwise though. I also find Nobo-wa confusing. So it isn't part of the 2nd cataracts region? Otherwise looks good.

no, nobo-wa is a gold mine, if it was part of the 2ns cataract region, it might be coloured purple. ;)

The names are great, but there's too much text on the territories again. If you kept the allusion to Nobo in the legend, then made the actual territory names the egyptian for 1-10,10+1, then they'd not look like they were shoved there to alleviate a worse problem (which is what it looks like right now).

i'd like to keep it like it is now. Some players may have trouble putting two and two together, as i have discovered. :)

got time, doing a round.

For the bonusses I see nothing wrong at this point.

1ste:
Space some room between Serra and its armyshade

2nd:
all well

3rd:
space some room between "Jebel" and "Barkal" otherwise people will make it into "Iebel Barkal"

4th:
this blue is getting a bit too flashy for my taste, a softer tone for atleast the left side?

Gold Mines:
looks nice aswell

for gameplay, it is so that for example "Nobo-tala" can attack "Tumbus"? (3rd cataract region)
if so => mkay
if no => rework the roads then he :D

LOOKS NICE

Why don't you add a mint in each of the other continents so you get a bonus of 1 army for every mint and mine you own

max...thanks for the suggestion...i don't think egyptians used gold for minting purposes. it was mainly used by the wealthy, and the pharaohs and of course for lits of funery items.
if you know differently then i would stand corrected.

Well add a jewellers. If I remember correctly the ancient egyptians imported incense from nubia, but don't shoot me if I'm wrong

A gold worker, whatever they're called, you could add the port, so you can export the stuff to Egypt. make that nessicary to get the units

Max...thanks for input but....
I would like to keep this map kind of simple in line with the other 2 maps of lower and upper egypt.
I think that adding some other gameplay item might just overdo it, and the gold mines already have a twist of xml coding on them ;)

I still disagree with the over-text on the gold mines.

Just look at the gold mines. Three lines in several cases, two on every single one at the least. Compared to the one-liners on every single other territory in the entire Egypt quadtych, you should change it to something simpler (like just dropping Nobo entirely from the map text and leaving it for the XML).

Also, another thing I noticed: you changed the subtitle for the map to "The Gold Kingdom". They're most famous history-wise as the New Kingdom (or at least, it was Nubian pharaohs at the head of said kingdom). Any particular reason for the change?

I think the 3rd and 2nd are way too similar.
Sorry if it's been mentioned.

I'm pretty sure I made the comment before that the space between the columns at the bottom of the map is kinda dead compared to the liveliness of the rest of the map.

Are Nobo-arba and Nobo-sitta able to attack each other, the well, and Nobo samsa? I find that jumble of attack routes fairly confusing.

No worries. i swaped the colours around and the map looses it's appeal. so i am inclinced not to change this at present, unless someone else mentions it.

I agree with The Viking - it's rather hard to tell. The minimap helps, but it's not perfect. What if you switched the colors of the 3rd and 4th cataracts?

Sorry, Zeak. That was part of the already tried bit....the map looks horrible like it's lost it's soul.
(You know....i'm bloody ancient! And even I can tell the difference between red and purple. So what's going on with you guys and your eyes/monitors).
Anyways, I have adjusted some of the tert colours to a linear gradient so i hope this makes a difference.

TaCktiX wrote:Just look at the gold mines. Three lines in several cases, two on every single one at the least. OK...i have adjusted the size of the text - still kept the Nobo bit as i wished but have moved most of those tert names to two lines. I don't think it would be wise to have something not on the map but in the xml...that really confuses some players - IMHO and FME.

Also, another thing I noticed: you changed the subtitle for the map to "The Gold Kingdom". They're most famous history-wise as the New Kingdom (or at least, it was Nubian pharaohs at the head of said kingdom). Any particular reason for the change?

Yes, while i started off with the New Kingdom (and it may be that to us in that it has only just be discovered) it was well known to the Pharaohs Tutmose & Ramesses who reigned well before the period when Taharqa came to power in the late period decline of this civilization. There are many temples and statues to those Pharaohs, so i guess it was not really a new kingdom.

Accordingly, for the map sequence subtitle, i have re-named it the Gold Kingdom.

Version 8 below
Changes:
1. new text size
2. painted desert
3. adjusted colours on the terts, particularly those region 2 and 3
4. adjusted the feel of the desert roads
