I bumped up the number of territories to 40. Unless someone gives me a really really good reason to put it up to 42, i'm not going to. I haven't been convinced by the reasons given so far, so keep the reasons coming if you've got more.

I changed the bonuses up a little to deal with the new territories. If someone wants to tell me i'm wrong and give me better suggestions, by all means do it. I'm not very good with determining the bonuses so i'd love to have some more input.

Heres a much lighter version. If people like it better I suppose I can put it up to a vote before submitting it.

i like the lighter version. if syerea ellada is worth 5 like peloponesos i think you should make thessaly into two (perhaps three to make it a round 42), its a bug country and it would balance out the bonus. granted im not Marv, its just a suggestion.

It seems like the bonuses are off...now, I may be counting wrong, so feel free to correct me, but if Asia Minor has 9 countries and boarders 3 continents...and Athens has 7 countries and boarders 3 continents...wouldn't it make sense for either Asia Minor to be worth more, or for there to be more ways into Athens? I guess Athens just seems too easy to hold...and Asia Minor not worth enough...

I'd suggest another route (or two) into Athens, another route into Asia Minor, and more points for Asia Minor...

There are 4 ways into Athens. Corinth, Boeotia, Euboea, and Tinos. Still I could be wrong in my bonuses, i'm not good at it at all so keep the suggestions coming.

I agree, the shade of the first one had on the side is good.

Well lets see...

---Eeeek! The second version is way to bright, I'm definitely in favor of the first one.

---Athens~~ 7 Countries; 4 Borders; 6 Attack routes. 6 seems like an alright bonus value due to what makes up Athens.

---Sterea Ellada~~ 5 Countries; 4 Borders, 6 Attack routes.
Perhaps 6 almost might be a better number, even though it has two less countries...all countries but 1 are a border.

---Peloponesos~~ 8 Countries; 3 Borders; 4 Attack routes.
I'd make this 4 or 5, same with Asia Minor nearly. More toward 4.

---Asia Minor~~ 9 Countries; 3 Borders; 3 Attack routes.
Bonus of 4 or 5 same wih Peloponesos. More toward 4.

---Boreia Ellada~~ 7 Countries; 3 Borders; 3 Attack routes.
Depending on what value you give Pelo. and Asia Minor, I'd give this similar to them, perhaps one less though esentially Pelo, Asia, and Boreia are the same.

---The Agean~~ 4 Countries; 2 Borders; 3 Attack routes. I'd give it a value of 3.

------It seems though as the map currently stands...repetitious of continent values, since essentially 3 are the same, and 2 are very close.

I dunno, i'm getting too many mixed ideas about the bonuses, so I took your recommendations and compared each territory with popular maps in existance and have come up with this. I think its good and the map is about done.

Image

Athens - 6
8 Countries, 4 borders. Took your advice for it.
Sterea Ellada - 3
5 Countries, 3 borders. Reminds me quite a bit of classic Africa, which has 6 countries and 3 borders, and a bonus of 3.
Peloponesos - 5
8 Countries, 3 borders. Reminds me a lot of Classic North America, which has 9 countries and 3 borders and a bonus of 5.
Asia Minor - 5
9 Countries, 3 borders. Pretty much the same as Peloponesos with one more country.
Borea Ellada - 3
7 Countries, 2 borders. A lot like the European Near East, which is 6 and 2 and worth 3 bonus points.
The Agean - 2
4 countries, 2 borders. Reminds me of Classic South America as well as the European Western Russia, which are both 4 and 2, and both have a bonus of 2.

I realize a lot of the bonuses are similar, but I kind of like that. Could make for games with a bigger buildup.

Go for it, Mr. K.

I like the map a lot.

We can play it for a bit and gauge feedback to see if the bonuses need to be tweaked.

Great stuff!

Looking pretty good. I do think there are a couple places (specifically between Achaea and Aetolia and between Thessaly and Euboea) where it's a little hard to see whether or not there's a connection. Making the channels a bit clearer (wider?) in those spots might help.

For the bonuses, I think I'd personally make Peloponesos and Asia Minor 4's rather than 5's. At least Peloponesos, anyway. But then, I'd probably have made North America a 4. Also, I'm having trouble seeing what the eight countries in Athens are: Skyros, Euboea, Boeotia, Corinth, Attica, Andros, Tinos, and what? Given that I only see the seven countries, I'd probably make it a 5 at most.

By the way, what order is the legend in? It seems it could be made slightly quicker to reference if the order more directly related to the layout of the map. Oh, and it'd look nice if the number column lined up, although I know that's hard to do in Photoshop.

The bonuses are good.

2 minor suggestions:
1) There are no borders between Euboea and Thessaly, same to Aetolia and Achaea. You can make it easier to realize... in the small map, it can be very confusing.

2) Move the circle of Samos, and put the route to Lydia in its place. Its more logical.

most of the countries with "k" on yours should start with a "c", like Krete should be Crete

Says who? Greek doesn't have any "c" in the language, and I don't believe Ancient Greek did either. (Thats not including Byzantian Greek) It wouldn't make any sense to spell the countries with C's.
