Central and sud look like they want to paly the anti colour blind game. Could you distinquish them a bit better colour wise?
What do you know about map making, bitch?

I guess I'm going to be contrary again.

I realize that orange and yellow are somewhat close in colour, but when the regions that are those colours both have the same bonus, I don't think it really matters.

here's an attempt at light coloured text on the water for ruben. not a full update so v8.5

The text on water is fine now. Thanks.

I am colour blind and while Centre and Sud look very, very similar to me I don't think it will be a problem since they are not located next to each other and I can distinguish the borders. So that should be fine as well.

Looking very nice indeed. I think I will be playing this one a lot and I'm very selective! ;)

This latest update is looking very nice :)

I still don't like the legend font, but you don't seem to want to change that :(
Oh well. The map is still going very well.

Is it the fonts used in the legend that are bugging you?

Well, "bugging" might be putting it too strongly. It's a very minor nuisance, really. It's not anything that would stop me from playing the map over, but yes, I don't really like the font in the legend.

The orange numbers are very difficult to read on the Centre and Ouest regions. The yellow numbers are hard to see on Sud. I'm having trouble with the number on Bainet as well in Sud-Est.

Maybe you'll need some army shadows or something.

I don't have this problem, but then again, I'm not color blind. (Well, I actually am a bit color blind, but it's not severe, so that's irrelevant.) I think army circles are a good idea, though, since they would definitely improve visibility.

that's too bad.

I was hoping they'd be clear because to me they are very readable. oh well. guess I'll have to add 'em.

As mentioned, I think the army circles will improve the clarity of the map.

I can read the numbers without trouble on this map, but in general it is better to err on the side of making it overly clear. Plus some of your numbers are hitting borders and crossing into other terits, which is fine but is easier to follow with circles. I also vote yes on army circles.

What about slightly increasing the spacing between characters? Some of the words kind of blur together on the small map.

Maybe you could just sneak one little zombie on there? Maybe you could have him peaking out from underneath the legend? :)

But seriously, this map has some interesting choke points...which will make game play different. Interested in how it all turns out. Part of me wishes there was a 4 bonus continent, for variety, but I don't really see anywhere you can make one.

On another note, the political division line on the right side of the map looks a little too similar to the rivers. Perhaps darken it? I'm not sure...just needs a little differentiation.

Also, the legend color has been bothering me. It's dark, I like...but too dark. I'd almost consider swaping the nonplayable area and the legends colors.

What you need to know:

1. 28 territories
2. 6 continents

Changes in this update
1. small and large versions
2. added army circles
3. changed colours of legend background and non-playable area per Andy's recommendation
4. small version font changed.
5. alternate version of small version with font all one colour

To Do:

1. Fix a few of the circles which overlap with text
2. Fix a couple of places where there are weird issues with the new small font (if people want me to keep it). EG: the i in Montrouis
3. Add back accents if keep small version text (though the font I used doesn't allow them so I'll have to get creative).

Points of Discussion

1. Do you like the switch in colours for legend background and non-playable area?

2. Are the army counts readable now? (Mr. Ruben)

3. Do you like the new font I used on the small version? (if so, I'll change the large version to match)

4. Do you prefer the font to have all one colour like in small version 2a or the different colours for font depending on if they are on the land or the sea?

5. Do I make you horny baby?

6. Gameplay

The armies are legible now although the one on Saint-Marc is less so.

I prefer the old font. The new one is too strong and less legible.

I still don't like the font used in the legend. :) The background is okay but it wasn't bothering me before either.

1. Do you like the switch in colours for legend background and non-playable area?

Yes.
3. Do you like the new font I used on the small version? (if so, I'll change the large version to match)

No. It's harder to read than the one you've been using.

4. Do you prefer the font to have all one colour like in small version 2a or the different colours for font depending on if they are on the land or the sea?

One color, because all of your continents are lighter colors that black easily reads against.

6. Gameplay

Chokepoint-heavy. For such a small map, this could either be a dealmaker or a dealbreaker. I leave it to Oaktown to decide which.

Not covered, but I like the changing-color dots on the sea routes. Nice touch.

yeah, well, hmm... beyond the fact that I find this map to be generally missing something (though I can't put my finger on exactly what that is), i don't have any major gameplay issues. As TaCk pointed out it is chokepoint heavy, especially right in the center with that river running east-west above Ouest. I suspect many games are going to come down to a northern and southern power, each with the same bonus and each building up big numbers on their two borders.... winner is whoever gets the best rolls.

Alternatives to this could include adding another bridge between Saint-Marc and Montrouis (and possibly making Ouest a +4?), or making a sea route between the two peninsulas to make the entire map more circular in play; Pestel to Sanit Marc would make sense as they are already ports. A sea route could be interesting, since what I imagine will happen now is the advantage will go to players who get drops on the peninsulas - if I could start anywhere on this map I'd want to start in Sud because it's an easy progression of your armies to conquer and then hold that region, and it's an easy progression across sud-est from there. That player needs another threat to be wary of.

The rivers seem better than when last I looked, but it wouldn't hurt to either make them one pixel wider or ad a note to the legend that they are impassable.

The way the sea routes arc out from Ile de la Gonave looks a little funny to me... like it's not the most direct route. Kinda looks like it has legs! :)

I agree with most of what Oaktown has mentioned.

I would say that a Pestel to Baie de Henne route sounds better to me than a Pestel to Saint-Marc. This combined with a Montrouis to Saint-Marc attack route would make both Nord and Ouest +4 bonus regions.

I had thought about a route from Nord to Ouest via the Dominican Republic. a la the trade route in Mongol Empire

that might be too many routes though
