Starting Neutrals
City View, Kamma and Lake Morris East are the starting neutrals as of 6 Jan 2010.
This has not changed for several months since shortly after the map went live.

Original Version 1
Image

Why?
A map to accompany Cairns Coral Coast, and possibly part of a Metro around the World series suitable for tournies. Some of the territories will be familar from the Cairns Coral Coast map.

1. The number of territories currently on the map.
43 - 5 coded neutral starters - marked (flexible)

N. Beaches 6
Barron Est. 4
Freshwater 4 (now Mt Whitfield)
Redlynch 3
The city 4 (now CBD)
Inner City 6 (now Central)
City View 2
S. Corridor 5
E Trinity 4
Gordonvale 2
Lake Morris 2

2. The number of continents.
10 continents - lots of grabbing for everyone.

3. Descriptions of any unique features or areas.
Classic gameplay with some rivers and inlets providing barriers.
A Tinnie is a small boat, that what a lot of people have here in their backyards and it's suitable for mud crabbing and light-fishing in the river mouths and inlets.
The background sea area is the natural photo from Google and underneath the green non-playable areas are the mountains surrounding Cairns.

4. Possible Bonuses
Bonuses are not yet calculated. (now calculated)
Two poissible bonuses might include Lake Morris, Cairnswk (yes that's where i live) or the airport. See what's suggested.
Andy's banana tree from the Cairns Coral Coast map features in the legend <- well it used to, it's gone now, been chopped down, replaced by road signs instead.

The idea looks good.

At first glance, I'm not crazy about the ocean color, title, or legend.

Any chance of a minimap instead of a traditional legend? That's something that I wish I had asked for in Sydney Metro now, that I think should definitely be put in place in this map.

Looks nice. The doted lines are all connections, correct?

The map says road and tinnie connections....so i guess yes would be the answer.

I for one, would like to see Gordonvale reduced to a +1 bonus.
I also like the minimap best, but it doesn't mesh up with the Cairns Coral Coast map that way. So I guess I prefer the first version.

Other than that...... when can I play?

I like the minimap much better, but I think you need to shift Lake Morris and its dotted line to the right now to prevent overlap.

Also, could you try playing with the ocean color? I thinks something a bit more blue would look better.

Version 3.
Rather than move lake morris which i was not in favour of, i reduced the size of the minimap.
And i've toyed with the ocean color of the minimap, but i think it needs to go further.

I think the color you're using for Lake Morris is great - why not make that the main ocean color as well?

Is Lake Morris connected to Crystal Cascade, or what's my motivation for attacking it?

hey cairnswk, I know that this might not be a welcome comment, but regardless of how good a map this makes I suspect it'll be rarely played because it isn't a geographic region that means much to anybody.

That said, the coral coast map still does better than half of the maps I've made, so what do I know? ;)

oaktown, not that its unwelcome but keyogi said that about Cairns Coral Coast when it was in development, I have proven him wrong through the makings of a good classic style gameplay map which as yo-u pointed o-ut still remains popular.

I'd like to still give it a go.

I could say the same thing about the Charleston or Citadel map, doesn't mean much to me 'coz i've never been there but won't stop me from playing them.

As for not meaning anything to anyone, well what can i say. let the forum decide. So far the few responses are positive. :)

Lake morris holds the water supply for Cairns.
Perhaps it could be a bonus tert that provides a +1 bonus if held in conjunction with a whole region....if a couple of other connects were made to it.

Another nice map but a bit messy to see connections with both the minimap and the deadspace in the middle:O

Yeah but i think the problem is where it connects to the city below could you try moveing it closer to the armycircle and not so long down?

Same with Yahara more up more in the middle.

Still think those attacklines in to far to the end in terretorie which is a bit odd:/But since i cant explain how their add i guess that cant help.
