Resign button - Extension ( Revised by ADMIN)

Postby Donelladan on Thu Oct 26, 2017 9:39 am

show: original suggestion

The admin is approving following suggestion ( still to be discussed here) :

Extension of the resign feature from speed game to casual game.

Previous restrictions still apply, i.e. :

  • 2 Player games only ( 1vs1 and poly)
  • Round must be 10 or higher for the resign button to appear in 1vs1
  • Round must be 6 or higher for the resign button to appear in polymorphic games
  • Must be Trench

Additional restrictions :

  • For non-tournament games only, de facto excluding all clan games as well
  • The resigning player must have less than half the army count of their opponent.

Note : For now, the accept button discussed in the "original" suggestion will not be considered, mainly because it may create as many problem as it solves.

An excellent idea. There's nothing worse than having to endure, especially on the bigger maps a long and drawn out loss, when the game is obviously over!

People aren't forced to voice support, I inform them without prior knowledge of their opinions. If they disagree they can also say so. If everyone I wall'ed bring support, it means there is huge community support behind this suggestion. ( ofc I only informed people actually playing trench).

Concerning team game, just wondering, for real, don't you think your clan mate playing USA 2.1 quad and triple trench against FOED would agree at some point a resign button might be nice ?
I didn't said so in my suggestion, but obviously if it is implemented for team games, it should require that every member of the team click on resign before resignation is effective.

I agree and support this, however, not in a team setting only standard or poly.

I agree with this for all 1v1 and poly games. For team games I support it in principle but we'd need to figure out whether it means just one player resigning or a whole team resigning, and in either case, how that would work.

I support the implementation of a resign button for singles trench games.

In team games it might be open to some abuse.

To be clear, this suicide-extension is still only being considered for for two player (& two team) games, right?

Hey I am gathering support so that we can have a resign button for trench game.
If you could just say you support the suggestion that would help move it forward.
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=225224

You are only asking for their feedback if they support, you arenā€™t asking a neutral ā€œplease give feedback and opinions on this suggestionā€ youā€™re steering towards support. If someone doesnā€™t support it doesnā€™t tell them to also voice it, so they might not post or ignore if they disagree. See my point?

I have much less objection to 1vs1 / poly, whatever. Weā€™ve argued that to death. But if this is suggesting teams Iā€™m opposed. If thatā€™s even going to be considered there needs to be a lot more details about how it works and ways to prevent abuse and accidental resignations etc.

Bit concerned on the team games though ... abuse of it can happen ...

I think all trench games should have a resign button. Even team games. If all teammates can vote to resign I do not see a big potential for abuse. With 100% agreement then a team should be able to resign.

This MUST not be allowed in clan or tribe games.

Over the years there have been a number of acrimonious splits in clans. Let's say an internal row erupts in a clan and half the clan decide to leave. Do they play out there remaining games in a professional manner or do they all resign in games they would win just to stick it to the other clan members.

I would go as far as saying that we would consider banning trench games from clan wars if this came to fruition.

A very poorly thought out suggestion indeed.

keefie makes a good point there, but disgruntled members could just tank those games manually if they were that bitter about the clan split, no? maybe just put a rule for clans that forfeits aren't an option? - if it becomes available, that is.
