they've become very good, these bots, ChattersMitt and TeeGee can't distinguish them from people. Turing test passed.

Even still, they are terrible. I can never read them and/or they don't load. That means all new members would need to file an e-ticket to even make an account.

there are different types.. some are really annoying and you can never tell the letter really, but others are ok. i think google uses one that's like a grid and you have to select the squares in the grid that contain something like street signs or other stuff.

i assume CC could use one that's free.. i honestly have no idea what's available out there.. but think one is really needed.

But then the active users count would drop to 15.

A great CAPTCHA would be having to correctly determine the gender after being shown a picture of swdk's surgically-altered genitalia.
