- Confederate has taken over this topic and turned it into a game, I just hope Owen is Ok, Love or hate him he was a part of Us all and did bring spice to this site.

- God forbid something bad did happen to him and this thread about him was turned into game, for this would be a shame.

- Did Owen mention he was taking a sabbatical? Does anyone know where he really went, Or is he just taking a break from CC?

He did say goodbye but I think we all thought it was a joke and he would be back very soon. He has left it far longer than I expected. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

I (honestly had a nightmare that he was going to buy CC at one point.

Fast running out of ideas here.

What is cinnamon? It is a spice made from tree bark.

The Spice Islands a.k.a. Molluccas have already been guessed, and furthermore there is no city named after any of the Islands.

An extensive search yields no islands of any note named "bark" or "tree", though there probably are some in other languages.

Moving on with the other clues, there are relatively few cities that I can find that have the same name as the island they are on. Abu Dhabi on Abu Dhabi, Manhattan on Manhattan (and manhattan is a drink... island of drunks?) A lot of the Greek islands have cities of the same name -- Corfu on Corfu, Mytilene on Mytilene, Rhodes on Rhodes, etc. I guess some of these may have had pirate connections at some point.

The clue about sounding like drunks made me think of Barranquilla, although it's not an island.

I'll guess Manhattan at this point, though I'm really ready to give up.

If you want to lay a wreath for Owen, there is another thread for that. Although, if something did happen to him, being turned into a game would be far from a shame. Rather, it would be a great tribute.

In any case, I'm glad he's gone. He was the reason this forum became so toxic and circlejerky. I know I left the site because of people like him. Now I'm back, but others won't. He was a net loss for CC.

I never got the whole boys club thing here. The in-jokes that made the forums so hilarious for some, and so utterly toxic if you weren't a straight male. I liked some of Owen's posts, but ultimately he ended up trying to be on the excluding end of things.

I've been here for a while. Since 2011, if I'm not mistaken. I took a leave around 2014/2015, tired of people like him turning every forum thread into a cesspool of stupidity and unfriendliness. I even told him this very thing publicly in the forum, more or less.

As I told someone who felt the need to message me privately about this, being active in the forum and helping shape up the site rules doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something good. You may be an obnoxious jerk in the forum, help set up bad rules, and become a toxic presence in the community. I don't miss him.
