"Disable chat" game option?

Postby Torbjorn666 on Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:15 am

Is there any support for having a "disable chat" option in the game options?

Lots of large, long games are ruined by manipulative chat and gullible people doing other's dirty work for them, especially in fog games. I know some people like it but there should be an option for those who don't.

I'm thinking of ending my subscription. I'm a busy person and I play this to chill out but its been less enjoyable than work lately.

You can move it to your console so you dont see it unless you click on it.

You're missing the point. It's not that he's bothered by the chat itself, but by diplomacy. He doesn't like diplomatic manoeuvres.

Proposals for diplomacy-free games have been made in the past. I recall one Tournament organizer ran one (maybe more?) tournament(s) in which ALL chat was strictly forbidden, for exactly this reason.

For those people who don't like diplomacy, a disabled chat option is a reasonable proposal.

Meanwhile, join XI Games.

could always start a thread centered around diplomacy free games, see if there is deman, require a PW and all players agree to stfu. maybe a mod would be willing to get it posted on the side to gauge interest. you then all foe each other for the duration of the game. it's a recipe for secret diplomacy but you could try it.
