I guess I will be the first to confess that im here for rank. Yes its fun too, but fun is playing risk with some friends on a thursday night. I dont consider constantly checking this website or planning 3 moves in advance or any other extremes to keep my rank up, fun. Im hooked on this website and i can point to rank as my motivation.

Its not that think im better than others because of my rank or because i want praise. I just cant stand the thought of putting all the time in to play and get rank (the curse!) and lose it all. I can say that if it werent for rank, i might sign on maybe 4 times a week instead of 10 times a day.lol.

Im having fun but at the same time this whole site is a curse that i cant seem to brush off. IM ADDICTED. shhhh.

at first and it sorta still is rank but i screwed myself by first playing with really good people to start, then in most of my games, for some reason im the primary target. in one game i was attacked by everyone and they only attacked each other once every other turn, but anyway, i play for fun!!!

Why else if not for fun...
Now don't get me wrong, I really want to play well and win...
But I REALLY enjoy a good strategy game, where everybody plays smart.
I would rather LOSE a really good game than WIN a bad game (where someone makes stooopid moves and kills the strategy).

I'd love to continue moving up in rank (can't seem to keep that diamond for more than a day or two...) but this is all about fun. I've said it to more than one person in chat, usually when they are bitching about something in the game, that if playing doesn't continue to be fun, I might as well be at work.

I don't know what my win/lose ratio is...I've had my ass kicked a number of times and I've won some. I find myself playing the majority of my games with a bunch of the same players because while we're all there to win, the chat is fun.

I also like to play against better players out there to improve my strategy. And one of these days, I'll get in a game with KoolBak because he seems like the type of player I enjoy playing with...where it's about winning, but about having a good time.

I'll shut up now. :)

I dont want to lambaste the guy but he is very high in ranking (also in the elite tourney I believe) - he has told me he will not play singles as they are too volatile for his rank. The 1 in 6 sounds about right for me as well which makes me feel much better.......

Singles to volatile for his rank??? Rubbish - he's just poo at singles
Its swings and roundabouts as far as im concerned.

more people more risk more points more fun

less people less risk less points less fun

sort of :-k

pick another doubles partner Kool. plenty out there mate. some just prefer more co-operation than others. they're usually the ones that win though ;-)

I play for fun, most of the time, but the rank thing does trick me occasionally. Like when I get close to the top ten, or get to my highest score yet, suddenly I get very competitive to win even more...

and usually lose, and remember it's about fun in the end.

I should add that I REALLY dislike LOSING in a BAD game... you know... that stooopid player that kills the strategy and hands the game to someone else...

Conclusion... the only thing worse than winning a stooopid game, is LOSING a stooopid game...
and that makes things, shall we say, less fun than they should be!

And sadly, I've been in a number of games with stooopid players lately...
and can you believe that they've been elite games... yeah, i know... go figure.
Maybe 1600 points just isn't what it used to be...
Maybe there should be "super elite" or something... top 100 maybe? over 2000 maybe?

My motivator is rank. The reason I play is for fun.

Basically, its fun to win.. would I have fun if they didnt keep score? Yes, however I have so much more fun rising in rank and attempting to achieve that fugly bronze diamond.. or those gold swords... Its part of the fun.. fun doesnt motivate you to do shit though.. fun is something you have when you are acheiving goals.
