Volunteering for an organisation is generally great. Volunteering so that you can argue for banning someone is pretty awful. I get that a lot of people will take his fooling around as a joke, but it really is an abuse of authority, and indeed a kind of neglect of responsibility.
"It's just a game"- that's the common reply, I guess, but he's posting with the authority of a mod. Calling for another poster to be banned doesn't have the same element of playfulness that an ordinary member has. His posts will literally stand out, his name highlighted, and his profile adorned with his special status.
