TOURNEY RULES AND TEAM ROSTERS

PostPosted: Thu Jul 29, 2010 2:15 pm
by flexmaster33
TOURNEY RULES

What: Little League World Series
Teams: 20 (10 in the US Division and 10 in the International Division)
Players per team: 3
Format: 1 vs. 1 play (in a team setting)
Eligible: Must be PREMIUM to join this one simply due to the number of games played simultaneously when pitching.

• Game play –
Each matchup will resemble a true Little League baseball game with each map representing a spot in the batting order. Basically, if the hitter wins it’s a “hit” if the pitcher wins it’s an “out. Win quickly for extra-base hits, any game that goes 13 rounds or more results in a sacrifice fly (hitter is out, lead-runner advances one base).

See the below box for the exact breakdown.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd27 ... efinal.png

All games are 1 vs. 1...
Batter #1 vs. opposing pitcher
Batter #2 vs. opposing pitcher...and so on through the lineup (9 batters, then back to the top)

The pitcher is trying to retire the side in order (three straight outs), while the offense is trying to bunch together hits to bring runs across...just like real baseball.

Baseball rules will be followed…for example a sacrifice fly with two outs ends the inning with no one advancing. Also, a 10-run mercy rule will be in effect after the losing team has played four innings.

Stolen bases are also awarded – each time a team turns in five rainbow sets in an inning, the lead runner will swipe a base. This count is restarted at the end of each inning.

• Setting your lineup –
Each spot in the batting order features a unique map and settings.
Each of the three players on a team should fill three spots in the order.

Each player on the team will also have a role in pitching.
1) Starter – (Faces first 15 batters)
2) Reliever – (Faces next 10 batters)
3) Closer – (pitches to end of the game)

A starter will likely see the most action on the mound, while the closer will be throwing in the pressure-packed at-bats at the end.

(See links to map list and a sample lineup card)
Map list
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd27 ... aplist.png
Sample boxscore
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd27 ... xscore.png

• Round-robin and advancing to the bracket
The tournament starts with pool play – the US Division is divided into a pair of five-team groups, as is the International Division (see standings box below). That guarantees each team at least three round-robin games.

Sample standings
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd27 ... xscore.png

The top two teams in each grouping advance to the Divisional semifinals.

The winners in the semis advance to the Divisional championship game.

The US winner and the International winner meet in a final game to crown the Little League World Series champion.
SAMPLE SCORING...
#1 -- Hitter wins in 8 rounds -- Single
#2 -- Hitter wins in 11 rounds -- Walk, runner at 1st moves to 2nd
#3 -- Pitcher wins in 6 rounds -- Strikeout, 1st out
#4 -- Hitter wins in 7 rounds -- Double, lead runner scores, next runner advances to 3rd
#5 -- Pitcher wins in 10 rounds -- Line-out, 2nd out
#6 -- Hitter wins in 10 rounds -- Single, lead runner scores, runner at 2nd moves to 3rd
#7 -- Pitcher wins in 12 rounds -- Fly out, 3rd out inning finished

Inning totals -- Offense gets 2 runs on three hits, stranding two runners on base.

• Team sign-ups…Full teams are given priority, but feel free to sign up as an individual and I’ll try to get you a spot. Simply sign-up now, you can pm me with your lineup before we get started. Of course, if you know your lineup go ahead and post it.

Thanks for the invite, flex. Considered playing for the Canadian team, but then realized that it was an Edmonton team and decided it would be better on your team.

This looks like it's going to be quite the tourney, Flex! Gotta say I love the LLWS (always have fond memories of the 1998 Champions from Toms River, NJ.)

Still hoping to get the full 16 teams, but if it continues to stall I'll consider playing it with just eight. Where are all the Little League fans???
