Congratz to sportsdd2 - doodle earth got me in the end! - gl in the final.

Any chance of a 3rd / 4th playoff (like in the real World Cup)? - I'm up for it if the other "loser" is :)

I think your art is more sophisticated and just doodling was just too much to you

Yep, it is in our plans :) We're just waiting on the other semi finals to end and after that 3rd/4th place games will be played. And if these games finish and we know who ended up third, we will start the finals to decide the winner. It is done so it wouldn't happen that first finals end and then third place games (I believe it is like that in real world cup also. Or used to be :? )

There's always a bit of luck and a bit of skill... some have sometimes some more, some less but nobody is luckless nor unskilled in my opinion :)

Anyway, second semi final is almost over, both games have went over 11 rounds, it seems dave9d9 will advance to finals because right now he seems to get the goal ratio to favor him. But we must wait and see for the games to end.

You just need to find a legal way of losing 280 points before the games end!

What if I win both games? It would seem pretty fishy not to advance if I won both games.

UPDATE - TO; World Cup 2010 - South Africa

Postby amazzony on Mon Oct 13, 2008 1:16 pm

I hope BENJIKAT explained enough and that my message helped also.

One game to finish before MarVal can update the scoreboard and battles for third place can begin :)

We are finally all done.

Game 3410283 - Tie (CR wins in 18 rounds, +17pts)
Game 3410286 - Tie (CR wins in 15 rounds, +17pts)

Which ever of us advances, best of luck. Well played Dave9d9!

Despite wining both games, the rules unfortunately state that you lose!!

and yes I think it's ridiculous too!

benjikat is correct.

You might think so but joining tournaments is always volunteer and everybody should know what they get into when joining. If you don't like the tournament (or parts of it) then you can just ignore it and join some other tourney!

I will set up third place games later today (my doggy gets my priority right now) :)

UPDATE - TO; World Cup 2010 - South Africa

Postby amazzony on Tue Oct 14, 2008 3:05 pm

dave9d9 (Bermuda) and SR415 (Costa Rica) will play a third game to decide who advances to finals. As they ended up in a 1v1 tie and goal ratio was also equal then only a tiebreaker game can solve this situation.

I have never had this kind of situation during the whole tournament so I'm sorry for all the confusion and giving false hope to one player. MarVal explained me the situation a bit better and helped to decide best solution.

Sorry about the confusion!

Your referee,
amazzony

??????

SR415 won both games and therefore has a +34 pts goal difference and advances! - surely!

I myself was confused yesterday and wrongly posted about the situation above - he had to win both games in order to advance.

Looking forward to the bronze medal game with dave9d9

UPDATE - TO; World Cup 2010 - South Africa

Postby amazzony on Wed Oct 15, 2008 3:05 am

I'd like to quote one thing in here and once again explain why we've decided to use the tiebreaker game.

First here's a thing that I've added always to my tournaments (not to the first ones, but when I started realising how things work then I've always added this):

*I'm your Goddess ( ) and what I say, goes in this tournament. If I feel that something needs changing then I have the right to do if it's fair to everybody and is in the benefit of the tournament.

So, in this case I will use it because my logical thinking cannot understand how there can be better goal ratio to one player when 2 players have played 2 games and both were ties. There's no way that one person can have better goal ratio in that case (in real life, of course). And as we've tried to keep it similar to real soccer (of course, not working always) then I decided this case to change and make it third game to be deciding.

This said, in every tournament there are situations that organiser(s) can't foresee and need to act according to it when needed. Right now I'm using my right to decide what's best for the tournament.

Again, sorry for all the confusion before, I really shouldn't make decisions/posts when I have fever and it's late hours.

Your referee,
amazzony

Tiebreaker game will be made shortly and sent out.

Lets hope the tiebreaker game will decide who goes to the finals.

Dave9d9 handed me my own ass in the tiebreaker game.

Best of luck to you Dave.

Third place games have been made and sent out to BENJIKAT IS DEAD (Japan) and SR415 (Costa Rica). Interesting teams!

But, the teams in finals are even more astonishing. After 3rd place games end, I will set up final games between Equatorial Guinea whose coach is sportsdd2 and Bermuda whose coach is dave9d9. I wonder when will we see these kind of games in real life

Well played, SR415, but...

Congratulations,
BENJIKAT IS DEAD (Japan), for getting third place in World Cup 2010!!! =D> It's a big deal if you start thinking how big the tournament was and that we started with 205 coaches in 6 regions.

Final games are set up and I will send them shortly to the finalists. Best of luck to them and may the best coach win. Is it sportsdd2 coaching Equatorial Guinea or dave9d9 with Bermuda, we'll see.
