Here is a post going after the bonus 1.5 points!

My first games with Dukasaur were tourney games where neither of us won, so there was nothing special there to talk about, but I will talk about my first encounter.
I reflect back to the middle of March 2011, I had only been on CC for about 5 weeks at this point and did not have a clue what I was doing yet. But I liked the idea of tournament play and signed up for a bunch, most of which I exited in the first round. However, one of those early tourneys I signed up for was Dukasaur's tourney DKs 3-3-3 (seen here http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=140140 ). Thinking back now, knowing what I know now, I probably would not have signed up for a tourney involving 3 player games... The maps were Triple Alliance, AOR 3, and Third Crusade, all maps I had never played before. Needless to say I must have had some luck on my side and got my first ever tourney win! Not only did Dukasaur provide me with my first win but then he interviewed me about it! ( seen here http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=430&t=147076 ). Meeting players like Dukasaur are what has made my CC experience so memorable. We will all remember our big wins and awesome upsets, but it's the people you meet and play with here that make this place so special!

Game 9708248

My first experience with Dukasaur was an arms race tournament. Which is still going on haha. We are currently tied 9-9 in a race to ten. Since there were I believe ten games going on, this game was nothing special, our real conversations happened in a few of the other's that were all happening at roughly the same time. Dukasaur is a strong arms race player and would do the USA or USSR proud in a race to launch nuclear missiles :) Unfortunately in this particular arms race game, Dukasaur's dice failed him and neither of us made it to the missile phase. Oddly enough he was the one who took all the bonus's, I just took them back from him right after so no advantage was gained for him, it was a quick 5 round victory so almost the fastest of all our games, the fastest being 4. So you could say it was probably the best outcome for the respected countries as neither of them had nuclear arms blasted all over their country!!

GG and thanks for putting on this tournament Dukasaur :)

The first game were I and Duka met was Game 8241288 A Battle Royale.
Obviously Duka would then proceed to be taken apart in turn one by a member of The Pack,Great-Ollie
Kinda like in this picture:
Image
Anyways, i would proceed to get close to a win, but unfortunately, freestyle does not agree with me and thus i lost.

Next SirSebstar would meet Dukasaur on Game 8659022. It was for a tournament Redemption (Part two)http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139339, and basicly the win against Duka was the one i needed to win this tournament. Thanks mate!

I find Dukasaur to be a pleasurable opponent, it is a game where the dice do as they will, but the banter and spirit is the game is always high. Fond memories.

I remember that tournament!

Like you, I prefer 6,7,8 player games, and I only play 1v1s because I have to. But during that Redemption tourney, I finally started to figure out 1v1 strategy, and although I got crushed in the end I think I really learned a lot. Koontz's "15 games at once" tourneys were always very mentally draining for me, but they were damn good schooling!

My first game I encountered Duk was a doubles game that we had joined separately. Game 8120642
Just a couple months after I joined and a little over a month since duk had joined. We almost pulled of the victory with me taking duk my team mate out, but wasn't able to take out the last guy and he ended up winning.

first time i encountered the duk, was in lunar war Game 9048781, i would have counted Game 9506812 but someone else seemed to have played most of that game against me.
it was my first haul of large points as such i was very proud of myself, 'bragsie gained 138 points'

best quote within the game was by duk 'Dukasaur: I guess Hap Hazard was a little too Haphazard....:-)'

Only 5 active games left. With a bit of luck, we might be able to start Phase 1B early next week.

All games in Phase 1A have now ended. I've started the process of gathering the stats. (Leave it to me to saddle myself with a ridiculously complicated bonus system, lol.) I should be done within a day or two.

If you lost in Phase 1A, you will get a second shot in Phase 1B, and you can probably expect an invite in the next 3 days.

If you won in Phase 1A, you are not playing again until Phase 2A, so your next invite will probably be around January 7th or 8th. (Just letting you know, for the benefit of the freemiums planning their slot availability.)

Okay, as of now I have extracted all raw data (troops, rounds, wins, and whether you held Prussians) from your Phase 1A games and entered them into the spreadsheet. I still have to devise the correct formulas in Excel to translate the raw data into Dukapoints, so if you're waiting to see your Dukapoint standing, you will have to wait a few more days.

Luckily, we don't need those to carry on with Phase 1B, so I have gone ahead and started that, to keep the momentum going. All Phase 1B games have been created and invitations sent out.

Good luck all!

Couple of quick game remakes: I accidentally invited the wrong people into two of the games. Games have been remade and correct players invited.

My first encounter with Dukasaur harkens back the days of the 8 millions in a foreign land called...Jamaica.

Image

Game 8786950

I believe it was a game Dukasaur actually invited me to (though I may have pursued the game, as I had known Dukasaur for a while from the forums and his being a Tournament Reporter at the time, and I always enjoy playing with users I know). Ooh boy! I don't remember a whole lot these days, with my fading brain and all, but I certainly remember that one! I was completely dumbfounded by the gameplay of the map (Dukasaur tried to assure me that the gameplay was less complicated than it seemed, but to not much avail, haha) and basically resorted to going for the "maroons"/"renegade slaves" (I started on Holland's ship), thinking the +3 was solid and easy to comprehend.

Anywho, the middle game is somewhat of a blur, but in the end of that 7-player Escalating game, it was down to just Dukasaur and me - an epic 1 on 1!

Image

The both of us being the professional Escalating duelists, we both had our share of mis-clicks on our Escalating cash sweeps and would you believe I missed a turn as well??

But, fortunately having a set in my queue and a careful finger (this time), I actually won!

Image

And I wanna say that 158 bumped me up to Sergeant First Class, too, but I can't say for sure :-k At any rate, it was a fantastic game, and I remember it fondly (particularly the "holy crap" joke, lol) :) Certainly a game worthy of being my first with the mighty Dukasaur!

-Sully

P.S. Thinking about it now, I think I did, in fact, join the game. I think I was looking for some Randys after the update, saw Dukasaur had made a few and joined them.

Davetso, Zacxx201, and thehippo8 have all missed two invites each. Due to the holidays, I'm giving them a third chance. If they do not accept this third invite they will be replaced.

My first game with Duk was SoC Training Grounds Basic Standard Game 10264526. I was just choosing yet another in a long series of games where I'm trying to become a good player under the tutelage of such greats as General Roy, one of my favorite SoC instructors, when I saw a greeting in the initial chat from Duk. Well, I knew the game was going to be special since, not only was my favorite instructor in it, but Duk, too.

Sure enough, it was special indeed. In round 11 I eliminated my favorite teacher, General Roy, followed by Duk, then another player. Unfortunately I didn't have the numbers to go further so I'm now waiting for one of the instructors to check out my plans for eliminating the other 2 players. An even dozen turns for a victory against these worthy opponents sounds good. Hopefully this is but the first of many good games with Duk.

Okay, I finished moving, got my internet access back up, and re-assembled my computer today. I'm getting caught up on updating all my tournaments. Looks like I timed it just right with respect to this one, anyway: There is exactly one game left still active (Game 10341628) and it looks like it's almost over, so this is pretty much the right time to start the next round!
