In 1773, one of the defining moments in American history happened - the Boston Tea Party. Immediately, the legislature in England started passing what they called Coercive Acts, which our American friends know as the Intolerable Acts. The fifth of these was the British North America (Quebec) Act, and it is starting point for our challenge, as it was passed May 20, 1774.

This act was, in effect, the constitution of the province of Quebec. It showed the following borders:
Image

This really was intolerable to those from the 13 colonies, for a few reasons.
1) New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia had all been granted some of Ohio in their charters.
2)Virginians had already started settling the area
3) There were already land development companies from the colonies
4) This represented a spread of Catholicism and the French

In reality, the borders were never truly enforced. Instead, a little war known as the American Revolutionary War was started. That's right. Just like Conquer Club sprung out of Quebec, so too did the War of Independence. You could almost say that it was invented at McGill.

You are the Americans, trying to fight for your freedom. Your adversaries are many and include: the British, the 6 Nations, the French, the Spanish and of course the Klingons. Will you ally with them or crush them? The choice is yours!

As an aside, I should note that the Quebec Act is actually part of the Canadian Constitution. It is, in practice, "repealed" as it was superseded by the Constitutional Act of 1791 which split Canada into Upper and Lower. However, it is still part of the constitution. I wonder if that means that Quebec and Ohio can separate together and form a new country.

FAQs

Who can play a Challenge?
All challenges are open to everyone, although freemiums may have a problem meeting the game load.

How do we join?
All you have to do is a)create games that meet the requirements or b)join games that meet the requirements. They can be private, public or even tournament games. Team CC is not creating any games, the whole thing is done by users. There is a game-join link at the top of the first post.

What are the prizes?
For reaching the Challenge Goal you get one of the rarest medals on the site, the Challenge medal. Challenges only come around once, if you miss it, you won't ever have another chance.
Image
For completing the Challenge, one receives a General Achievement medal.
For scoring the most points in the Challenge: 1 Green Conquer Star
Image
For those who finish in 2nd-5th place in the Challenge and achieve the Goal: 1 Blue Conquer Star
Image

When do I get my prize?
Soon after you meet the requirements!

How is deadbeating dealt with?
Please report deadbeats in your games, I will do a random check. Inventory items will stay, but medals might be taken away if the deadbeats points do not allow for a medal.

Rulings
1. Deadbeats will have entry points stripped.
2. Wins by round limit count as normal wins.
3. Games can always have round limits but they never need to.
4. Inventory relating to the challenge will vanish at the end of May.

It Says "All you need to do is join and win at least one game started between April 1 and April 30 with the following settings" How is that "May" Challenge? Should it say May 1 to May 31?

Sweet! Too bad it doesn't include Escalating, though, but I know the point of these challenges is to get us to play maps and setting that we don't normally. =)

So, why do you keep saying "All you need to do is join and win at least one game..." ? That doesn't seem to be true, since later on you say we need at least X number of points for a medal. Am I not understanding correctly, or was that left in by accident, or are you confused?

Also don't know what you mean by "Challenges only come around once, if you miss it, you won't ever have another chance." They seem to come around every month, don't they?

I'm kind of curious on this myself. I've had several clan mates thinking we could start up a few games and anyone who won one would be eligible based on this statement. I have shown them the rules but I think it should at least say 5 games as that's the minimum to get any medal if you win ALL games.

I would be guessing ... but I think the matches have to start and then everyone in that match gets 1 point/token .... as opposed to the person Creating the match itself.

So being in 50 games would earn 50 points whether you win any or not.

Can we get a confirmation or clarification please

I think it should just say:

To join the challenge, one needs to only play one game. To complete the challenge, one needs x points.

There was a bug for a while. It is now fixed. No wins are required now but deadbeating is still not allowed.

In my opinion changing the medal criteria sucks. If the challenge is to get to 50 points and I get the 50 I should get the challenge medal. Just because I'm not in a position to rip off a 1,000 games with the same settings I shouldn't be excluded from the medal. That is sarcasm for those of you who take every comment literal. Not everyone is in a position to sit home all day working on CC challenge medals. If you are God bless you. Because I'm not I have to except the GA medal cause I'm not considered "hardcore". Don't get me wrong the GA medals are nice but that's not why I bother with the challenges. Outline the challenge goal and if it's met then award the challenge medal. If your "hardcore" and can get the 150 then you get the GA medal.

this is ridiculous. the challenge medal was specially created for challenges. in other challenges, the GA was handed out for doing something more than the challenge medal during a given challenge.
I am maxed out in GA, so I will not do anything else on this site related to GA. and I will not join 150 games a month for challenges. so thank you but I won't bother.
i don't know why you guys always have to be so unconsistent with the level of difficulty for challenges/events.

How is joining 150 games a challenge. Perhaps if you want to make it harder you should make it so people actually have to win games instead of being able to medal while winning 1 in 20 games. I've done all the challenge medals but these settings with no escalating would probably cause me to quit the site at some point when I have to skip work to play turns.

+1
not to mention that in encourages people to just join games and deadbeat or lose on purpose by the end of the month for the next monthly leader/most improved player. the april format seemed reasonable, probably the best thought through so far as you actually had to win games, this month it's a huge WTF.

That does seem to be the case. Wingnut 16ga joined/created 250 games but only 187 of them have begun, so he has 187 bronze tokens.
