June 18, 1815 to June 2015

The 19th century was a fairly calm one, in terms of European wars. After Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo, there were no major European wars until the Crimean war. In 2015, we can still appreciate this point, as there have been no major wars in Europe since World War II. The most likely war looks to be an invasion of the Ukraine. It seems we have come full circle.

This was also an important period for the formation of the Benelux region, as sovereign and separate states, after centuries of Austrian and French rule.

Then there is the battle itself. Any military historian knows at least in passing the general idea of the battle. There are songs and images which have memorialized this battle. The artillery, cavalry, skirmishers, flanking, hiding behind ridges and in Hougoumont, there really was a tremendous battle.

Draw your forces, and get gold with clan-rules on Waterloo.

FAQs

Who can play a Challenge?
All challenges are open to everyone, although freemiums may have a problem meeting the game load.

How do we join?
All you have to do is a)create games that meet the requirements or b)join games that meet the requirements. They can be private, public or even tournament games. Team CC is not creating any games, the whole thing is done by users. There is a game-join link at the top of the first post.

What are the prizes?
For reaching the Challenge Goal you get one of the rarest medals on the site, the Challenge medal. Challenges only come around once, if you miss it, you won't ever have another chance.
Image
For scoring the most points in the Challenge: 1 Green Conquer Star
Image
For those who finish in 2nd-5th place in the Challenge and achieve the Goal: 1 Blue Conquer Star
Image

When do I get my prize?
Soon after the end of the event!

How is deadbeating dealt with?
Please report deadbeats in your games, I will do a random check. Inventory items will stay, but medals might be taken away if the deadbeats points do not allow for a medal.

Tiebreakers?
They are dealt with by looking at who was first to achieve the desired result.

Rulings
1. Deadbeats will have entry points stripped.
2. Wins by round limit count as normal wins.
3. Games can always have round limits but they never need to.
4. Inventory relating to the challenge will vanish at the end of the year.
5. Bot games do not score tokens.

Everyone got "Token #6" just for starting one of these games.

Don't you have to win for tokens?
Why is there a #6... I thought there were only 3 kinds?

I assume it's to help keep track of how many games you've played, since that impacts how many points the 3 main tokens are worth.

A bit more but conditions are relay tough to reach.
13 wins in less than 30 games is ok, but 3 of each kind start to make it complicate.
Have to wait the result of the first one to start new games. For me it will be the double games.
Sadly only 2 players are still playing this setting.
I don't realy understand the point of a monthly challenge that only few players get.
For me it should be a fun part and almost easy to get to keep interest.

I don't think it's that complicated. In the past there have been challenges where the quads/trips/dubs wins have all had to be within a certain number of each other, but assuming I understand this challenge correctly only a minimum of three of each is required, which is easy.

If the challenges were easy I expect interest would almost double for around two months and then drop dramatically. The purpose of these is to get people playing types of games they would otherwise avoid.

Now that I know this is being managed, absolutely wonderful. When can we expect this to be finalised? If it's commonplace to wait until the end of July then fair enough, but I imagine it can't be hard to check how many Waterloo games made in June within the requirements are still active?

I just wanna make sure I'm still gonna win. :D

When the new GF package is released to the main site we will be able to check. Until then I've got to wait until the end of July because I can guarantee I'll miss a game or ten.

Best of luck to you!

Once the Challenge is over, the scoreboard is no longer featured on Central Command. However, it remains in existence.
.
Couple ways to get to it.

One is the link in Post 3 above.
Subject: June 2015 Monthly Challenge: Waterloo

DoomYoshi wrote:Scoreboard

Another is to go to the Community Page, from there click View Events, and from view events select Past. That will give you all the scoreboards from all past events, not just the challenges but the Easter, Valentines, Olympics, etc.
