EU desperate to keep UK

Postby mrswdk on Tue Jan 16, 2018 1:26 pm

EU president ups the ante in the Brexit negotiations by begging the UK not to leave:

The UK would be welcome to stay in the EU if it changed its mind about Brexit, Donald Tusk has suggested.

The European Council President told MEPs that the UK would leave the bloc unless it had a "change of heart".

"We haven't had a change of heart. Our hearts are still open for you."

British people desperate to remain in the EU, as they lack confidence in their own government.

The snap survey – conducted after Brexit architect Nigel Farage made an unexpected call for a second referendum – found 55 per cent would opt to remain in the EU and 45 per cent to leave if there was another vote. The original vote was 52 per cent to 48 per cent in favour of Brexit.

...Two thirds of people lacked confidence that Theresa May can secure a good Brexit deal, with 30 per cent very or fairly confident.

An increasing majority of people would back a second European Union referendum if Britain faced crashing out of the bloc without a deal, a new poll claims.

*poll by BMG Research. BMG's polls before the last UK election predicted that the Conservatives would absolutely demolish everyone else, whereas what actually ended up happening was the Conservatives performed so badly that they lost their majority.

The EU President, however, speaks for 500+ million people when he voices his desperation for the UK to stay within the bloc.

Hahahaha, what a joke! You must've missed the months of negotiating that have passed where Therese May basically came crawling back on her knees, giving in to all of the european demands.

If the EU has got the UK over a barrel then why is its president begging the UK to stay in the EU?

You're trolling games are annoying mrs, and I'm watching a movie right now. So have fun on your own. Maybe if you beg yourself, you can get the reaction you want.

So much angst over such a non-issue.

In or out of the EU, Britain will still be a major part of Europe. It's like camping in your own back yard. You still have to come in the house to take a shower and eat breakfast.

Britain's trade relations with various European countries aren't going to go away. They might become slightly more expensive.

Britain isn't going to cease being consulted on issues of regional security. They might have a slightly more complex process to go through.

Brits aren't going to stop vacationing in Mallorca. They might have to show their passport.

It's all a tempest in a teapot. Yes, it's dumb for them to leave the EU. It would be somewhat more convenient for the Brits to stay in the EU and not have to go through all kinds of negotiations over tariffs and things, but in the end that's exactly what it is -- an issue of convenience, not an issue of life-and-death.
