Four years into the term of Bill de Blasio - the first Democratic mayor of New York since 1993 - the city's murder rate is now almost as bad as the murder rate in London.

In February, the New York Police Department dealt with 11 homicides while the London Metropolitan Police had 15 homicides. At this rate it's a matter of time before New York is as violent and dangerous as London.

In 2017, Donald Trump - a local businessman long associated with New York - even decided to move-out of the city to a home in northern Virginia things had gotten so bad in New York.

Even the old folk are at it:

A 78-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a suspected burglar was stabbed to death.

The homeowner discovered two intruders in Further Green Road, Hither Green, south-east London, at about 00:45 BST.

One suspect, armed with a screwdriver, forced the man into his kitchen where a struggle ensued and [the suspect] was stabbed, Scotland Yard said.

Plus those whistles don't work. I cruised around blowing one for hours once, I didn't see any rapists.

If they like people putting up a fight then surely they will really like someone setting off a literal alarm to try and stop them? Seems illogical.

I recommend people carry a gun.

Or at least carry your keys around like they're Wolverine claws. You could easily rip open somebody's cheek with a well placed punch and then a nice downward thrust.


I think the rape whistle is more to alert others so that hopefully somebody comes to help? IDK for sure.

Pretty sure it's thanks to Obama for the employment policies he created whist cleaning up the mess from the Bush years.

21 murders in New York in March 23 in London. Guns are not freely available in Britain and London has a supposedly democratic leadership. Fingers crossed the pro gun people don't jump all over this one eh.

It's actually thanks to the Republican leadership in nearby states with loose gun laws, that enables a supply of self-defense tools to be purchased and transported into New York despite the diktats of their repressive leaders.

How is that not biaised? The slope is going dramatically down during the first part of the graph, the republican actually makes that tendency flat after a while, it even goes back up slightly. Republicans lose again.

The major of London has come up with a plan that's got the socialist intelligentsia very excited. It's a political masterpiece which will put more bobbies on the beat without having to dip into the vast budget which could and is better spent on cultural events etc.

Mr Khan has switched suppliers of WPC uniforms. The old uniforms which cost in the region of £250 are to be replaced by a new £19.99 wipe clean Ann summers version. Mr Khan added that this will also improve police relations.
