He's right though, the food at Taco Johns is much better than Taco Bell.
Story time.
Montana can be a bit of a difficult place for a guy like me who lives to eat. Don't blow this out of proportion. I have enjoyed quite a few meals there. In fact, one of the best Barbeque places I have been to is in Misoula and both locations of Cafe Zydeco we have been to are increadible! It's just, generally speaking, it's not like some places where you almost can't go wrong.
We were in Great Falls, a reasonably large city by Montana standards and I figure some mid level chain style tacos would be a great idea.
There's Taco Johns, which at the time I had not tried but noticed it was a bigger chain with several locations around the state. Right next door was Taco Treat. It seemed more like a local thing so typically that's bonus.
We order some Tacos and for our toddler Chips and Queso.
I couldn't believe how bland it was. It looked just like actual items from other places except it was not. Seriously, it was almost mythical, as if they used magic to remove the flavour.
The cheese dip was so bland the little guy refused to eat it. I reluctantly finished them, being astounded, wondering what it was made of. I assure you they couldn't have used any cheese in it.
We were a little apprehensive about trying Taco Johns since they kind of looked similar. Once we finally were brave enough, we found out Taco Johns is actually pretty good. Certainly better than Taco Bell and has nothing in common with Taco Treat beyond an unfourtunate naming similarity.
