Beijing Consensus marches on

Postby bigtoughralf on Sun Nov 05, 2023 5:54 pm

More of the world is deciding that the 'free for all' approach to governance popularised in the 1980s and decimated in 2008 might not be the best path forward after all.

Now it's the UK's turn to abandon neoliberalism, with officials drawing up plans to classify anyone caught undermining UK institutions or values as 'extremists':

The plans for martial law have been drawn up for a looong time.
They needed to let in millions of migrants to be the catalyst.
The shocking realization by the governments that they now need to clamp down on the populace due to 'too much freedom' is seriously pretty funny.
It will be brutally heavy handed, and it will happen entirely too soon.

I'm not sure if Europe or America will get it worse.
The U.S. still has 100 million gun owners, but they have been conformed into obedience pretty hard the last 20 years.
Those that resist will be made examples of.
I Guess we'll see how it plays out.

First, let's have someone, besides the player now known/suspected of being a Chinese agent, analyze this rendition of the Beijing Consensus.

HALF-TRUE Social unity and cohesion (Through severe freedom of expression and marginalization of minorities, i.e.anyone who isn't Mandarin-speaking Han)

FALSE Prosecution of corrupt public officials (Actually prosecution of democracy-minded activists by corrupt officials, the ones in power - Party cronies, No true democracy in China).

HALF-TRUE Public regulation of powerful industries (Hmm, but not so much with regard to the Environment or foreign IP)

TRUE Prosecution of conflict instigators (Hong Kong, Tianamen, COVID, etc).

TRUE Stern punishment of violent criminals and drug traffickers

FALSE Governments not meddling in other countries affairs (Please...)

FALSE Being anti-imperialist (Tibet, Taiwan, etc. - Just shut up, and take these last two off the list)

Xi wants to clamp down on the rich Chinese businesses, since they are sending all their cash to western countries. Why? The Chinese economy is starting to collapse, due to it's own making.

China is a corrupt and polluted country and is a danger to all it's neighbors.

Not to be confused with a Beiging Consensus, which is an interior design term for when the designer and client can't come to an agreement on a color scheme, so both parties settle for a palette of drab, neutral, off-white, earth tones.

Since the change of ownership in 2016, concerns have been raised about the paper's [scmp] editorial independence and self-censorship. Critics including The New York Times, Der Spiegel, and The Atlantic have alleged that the paper is on a mission to promote China's soft power abroad
