I'm sure he's a decent old fart like myself. I know Detroit and the surrounding suburbs and have seen shocking changes from the 70s to the present. I had a very close friend (Cliff) who was my co-worker in Chicago.He lived in the suburbs of Detroit and personally saw Detroit crash and burn in poverty and crime.

Cliff would show me the worse parts of Detroit and even though I knew the worst parts of Chicago, it did not come even close to the despair I saw in Detroit. The problem with Detroit was the great exodus of whites from Detroit and with the declining tax base, it was doomed to failure just like Gary, Indiana.

So...people like ConfederateSS blamed the Blacks for the crime and poverty that followed the exodus of Whites. Unfortunately the White working class that couldn't move away from the area saw their property values falling and harder to find good paying jobs.
