--------St. David's Day beats St. Patrick's Day by 2 weeks and 2 days...Wales, Dragons everywhere...You think it was Chinese New Year... :D ...Have fun , everyone, but not to much ;) ...stay safe....No not whales...Wales, Great Britain, England, United Kingdom....They were attacked so much by the countries of the European Continent....They keep changing their name, so when people try and attack across the channel , Like William the Conqueror (1066 A.D.), they wont know were they are going... :lol: ... O:) ConfederateSS.out!(The Blue and Silver Rebellion)... O:)

Wales/Cymru hasn't ever changed its name, I don't think. Back in the day then Welsh's main strategy for dealing with invaders involved hiding in the hills until the invaders got fed up and left.

-------I ment The U.K. as a whole...not just Great Britain...Take The Netherlands, I mean Holland ;) ... Maybe they should of , like Scotland... Trying that tactic , they wouldn't be a part of The U.K... ;) ...I like that was the original plot of Braveheart...You never find us, instead of , you never take our freedom...:)

'Wales' and "Welsh' mean 'foreigner'. Not what the people in the area really called themselves originally.

After the Norman invasion the Normans called the locals 'English' - including the Welsh. And the Welsh called the non-Welsh 'English' including the Normans.

Incidentally, St David (Dewi Sant) is the only UK patron saint that came from the country they are the patron of.

Well yeah, I just meant that since people started calling it Wales/Cymru c. 1,000 years ago they've consistently called it that rather than anything different.

Did St David do anything cool like kill dragons or drive out snakes?
