Thing s I Don't Like About Trump

For the record, I'm not a Trump "fan" and there's a growing list of things I dislike about the new Administration. I still find it vastly preferable to Biden, however. I will let you know when the scales tip.

Here's my running list. I'll add to it.

1. The Gaza plan

2. Steven Miller (he screams through all his interviews)

3. Elon Musk (conman -- also, can he get his kid a babysitter instead of bringing him with him everywhere?)

4. The lunatics in the House GOP are now more crazy than the lunatics in the House Democrats. When Gaetz was the chief whacko he enforced a certain ceiling of lunacy among the backbenchers. Now it's every man for himself. Nancy Mace is talking about her sex life on the House floor. Anna Paulina Luna is starting a committee to investigate everything from UFOs to the Loch Ness Monster, etc.

5. Arrest of Mahmoud Khalil (added 3/10)

6. Threatened to primary Thomas Massie (added 3/11)

7. Resume Biden attacks on Yemen (added 3/18)

8. Incompetent Method of Shrinking Workforce Size Leads to More Costs than Savings (added 3/18)

The list started with negative things but ended..

starting a committee to investigate everything from UFOs to the Loch Ness Monster, etc.

That sounds pretty fun, unless they're just in an office and not going out to the field to take a look.

I'm 99% sure they're doing it to nationalize their campaign fundraising. These are a handful of congressmen like Boebert who are social media famous but have no actual power. So they can't get PAC money and they don't raise much money from district donors. By putting together a Committee of Every Crazy Thing they can attract donors from across the nation who are interested in said crazy things.

This is the stated remit of the committee:
1- UFOs
2- JFK Assassination
3- Jeffrey Epstein's suicide
4- MLK Assassination
5- "The 9/11 Files" (not sure what that one is)

That list is not as entertaining as I was hoping. Those are probably pretty popular but I wanted to see things like Bat Boy, the Jersey devil and big foot..

This list will grow, and I will likely add to the list of Thing s.

Keep up the good work, Saxi. We need Thing s to ponder to keep our brains active.

I'm surprised the sanctions on ICC didn't make your list. It's my personal favorite Trump action though.

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, find that the International Criminal Court (ICC), as established by the Rome Statute, has engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel.

The effort to demote Pluto from a PLANET to a dwarf planet was led by an American, Mike Brown. This issue was fiercely debated by the Scientists in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) who study these celestial bodies.

February 6, 2019
CLEMSON, South Carolina — August 24, 2006, was a day of infamy for those who grew up having learned that a far-out icy body in the solar system – Pluto – was the ninth and final planet in our solar system. It was on this day that the International Astronomical Union (IAU) voted to demote Pluto from “planet” to “dwarf planet,” and the scientist who incited that change is coming to Clemson to speak about it.

Mike Brown, the Rosenberg Professor of Planetary Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology, will be visiting Clemson University on Feb. 21 as part of the TIGERS ADVANCE Distinguished Speaker Series. Brown’s lecture, “Planet 9 from Outer Space,” will chronicle how his team’s discoveries led to the demotion of Pluto and the search for a new Planet 9.

Brown’s research specializes in the study of bodies at the edge of the solar system and it’s this line of inquiry that called into question, 14 years ago, how Pluto should be classified.

https://www.astronomy.com/science/its-official-iau-demotes-pluto/

In 2006 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) demoted the much-loved Pluto from its position as the ninth planet from the Sun to one of five “dwarf planets.” The IAU had likely not anticipated the widespread outrage that followed the change in the solar system’s lineup. When the announcement was made (and even over 10 years later), people around the world objected to the planet’s demotion on principle, saying that it altered tradition and history, rather than engaging with the scientific reasoning. So, what was the IAU’s reason for demoting Pluto when it did? Why is Pluto no longer a planet?

The main event of the 2006 General Assembly of the IAU, the proposal that would come to demote Pluto, was a defining moment for the rest of the solar system as well. Fiercely debated by the members of the union, the resolution that was passed officially defined the term planet. What was once a loose word used to describe a large object within the solar system was now specific: planets are celestial objects large enough to be made rounded by their gravitational orbit around the Sun and to have shooed away neighboring planetary objects and debris. Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet because, while it is large enough to have become spherical, it is not big enough to exert its orbital dominance and clear the neighborhood surrounding its orbit.

That sounds like sour grapes, ConfedSS.

Nothing is constant, except change.

Heraclitus (c. 535 BC)

Did Heraclitus look at Planets to deduce this fundamental factor of Life? No, he merely pondered what happens when you put your foot in a stream.

To be part of the scientific community, you would need to be rational, believe in facts, work well with others and have creative thinking.

I don't see how you fit in any community, except for some FASCIST CULT FOLLOWING CLUB. Or, a religious cult that preaches that Jesus was wrong and we have to go back to the good Ole days of the Old Testament.

Stop with the SILLY ad hominem attacks, pack rat. You continue to show your IGNORANCE of the facts. You consistently show that you are not articulate and express yourself to most of us here as a silly little and angry man. You continue to post FALSEHOODS and LIES about me. You do not know me, as I have said repeatedly. I know you to be 3 time divorced LOSER.

by Pack Rat on Fri Sep 13, 2024 11:34 am

Fix your fukn poll! What about having been remarried 3 times, divorced 3 times and being single now,

I doubt that your really grasp Science. On the other hand, I am rational, believe in facts, work well with others and do think creatively. My career demonstates all those traits to those who know me. And I have been married ONCE, happily, for over 42 years. I have been a member of the SAME established Church ALL my life and the same local church for over 56 years. It does not preach that Jesus was wrong and [that] we have to go back to the good Ole days of the Old Testament. My Church protested against fascism. My Church works to protect and help the orphan, the widow, the sick, and those who are marginalized. I help feed the needy and hungry in our local community. I have yet to hear of any of your altuism or your civic involvement. You are likely an egotist and narcissist, as all your traits here in this Forum clearly demonstrate.

You just WISH that you had me figured out or that I meet your false narrative. I usually ignore your crap and your silly attempts to insult me, but your inane post deserves a clear, cogent, and vociferous refutation.

It's the internet and YOU can be anything you want to be here. YOU can vomit whatever YOU want and tell us that you are some super Christian.

Your Cult following of Trump explains everything YOU are and what YOU are not.

Trump and his fascists (includes Elon Musk) are dismantling our government, so it better mirrors in Trump and Musk's image. Heck, the sledge hammering put our Nuclear stockpile at risk!

https://share.newsbreak.com/bj4o549s

For someone who claims to be part of the science community, goes to church as a very active participant and feeds, clothes the poor and hungry AND is a teacher, professor and no doubt has a Doctorate in everything....you have a lot of free time to spout your hate and hypocritical judgemental of others who do not agree with your self-serving beliefs.

5. Ban on the AP for using the old name for the Gulf of America ... the White House is entitled to let whomever it wants into press conferences, but once admission is granted revocation must be for reasons that are content neutral. This will undoubtedly get enjoined by a court so the whole thing just seems like a waste of time.

6. The workforce reduction is good, and needs to occur rapidly as part of the Shock and Awe strategy, but some elements seem to be happening in a reckless and haphazard way (due largely to Elon's involvement). Case in point.

7. Holding Eric Adams hostage by conditionally dismissing the criminal charges against him -- with the potential they could be refiled at any moment if he defies the White House -- to essentially turn the government of NYC into a Trump puppet regime is hilariously brilliant. That said, coming right out and all but saying this is why you're doing it seems like a bad strategy since it gives Hochul runway to remove him now.

This isn't really a dislike, more a concern. This person has a theory that the more stressed Trump becomes the more bronzer he applies.

https://www.aol.com/photographer-explai ... 23583.html

That would mean he's super-stressed in this photo from yesterday in which he basically showed up wearing blackface. TIME FOR ELON GO.
