PSA: A French player has surrendered... errr.... been dropped from the tournament for not joining games after multiple invitations. As a result, every other French player has been awarded 3 victories (6 points) towards their Round 1 score.
Germany: Kaiser Craig25 - a convincing victory in the toughest division gives Craig the Central Powers' #2 seed.
Austro-Hungarian Empire: Emperor remo18 - His victory and #1 seed is something to celebrate, but the death of his son weights heavy and inspires him to war.
Ottoman Empire: Sultan Puddleglum - not bad for a Marshwiggle.
Kingdom of Bulgaria: Tsar serram - he wins a tight race against molespe and takes the Bulgarian throne.
ALLIED POWERS
United Kingdom: Prime Minister traffic133 - a dominant showing by the 2nd-lowest-rated player in his bracket. He will lead the UK into war.
France: Sacre bleu! It's a fight to the finish between ScaryTeded and pissedoffsol. If ScaryTeded wins out, he is France's next President.
United States of America: President ender_w99 - Nearly a 1000 pt lead over his nearest competitor meant there was little doubt ender would lead the US into battle.
Russian Empire: Tsar banecare1 - one of only two players with a 2000+ rating on his new team.
Congratulations to each of our Act I winners!!
Also... special shout out to hjelp (aka Archduke Franz Ferdinad), who finished 2nd in AH. His tragic assassination at the hand of a cowardly Serbian assassin triggers Act II of our Tournament, 'The Shot Heard Round the World.' You will be avenged, mine bruder.
