Hi friends, this tournament will be the first one ever I host without participation, my plan was to play, but then I had to just host, but if this goes well, then I hope to play in the 2.version of this tournament. The reason I have thought of this, is because I have heard from so many of my friends "you should do an FS version of your tourny, etc etc", but I thought that would be very hard to get filled, so then I started to think, and I think this format should hopefully be popular enough to get the tournament to start in a timely fashion.
Lets start off with the settings:
Settings : Map - Random Game Type - 12 player Standard Play Order - Freestyle Troop Deployment - Automatic Spoils - Escalating Reinforcements - Chained Special Gameplay - No Round limit - 20 rounds
This is how the format is, and the scoring will work: You have to be premium, since I will send 12 games at once for each group each round. Put down your score when signing up, I will use those scores to seed the players, when I make the games for round.1. The players will be split into groups of 12. Player scores will be reset between every round. The scoring is really straight forward, 1 point pr. win, in each round half of the group (6 players) will advance to the next round. Since the scoring is not more complicated, I have created some tiebreakers, to not have people waiting for tiebreaker games all the time. Tiebreaker rules are as follows: Players killed in that round, score when signing up (highest seed will get the final tiebreaker). Incase of a tie in the final, then there will be a tiebreaker match between the players involved.
I'm aiming for 48players, but if its not as popular as I hope it will then we will try the first version with just 24.
And now what I bet some of you freestyle lovers have been wondering about, when will you invite to the games? Will it be the same time every round?, etc etc After a bit of chatting with my freestyle friends we wanted to see if this way would work, I at least feels that this will make it as "fair as possible": To avoid games always starting at an unfavorable time for one time zone, and to avoid manipulation of the start clock, 11/12 match participants will be invited to a game, only when they have all accepted will the 12th person be invited so that they can choose when to start the match timer.
Each person will be the final invitee in exactly ONE game per round.
EDIT: We got to 36 players here, but then I had sent a DM to like everyone that had played a GM of FS the last 6months or something, and I was sure it would take ages to get 12 more signups, so I decided to go ahead with 36players.
The format will then be 3 groups of 12, and 8 players from each group will advance to the semifinals. And in the semi's 6 players from each of the 2 groups advance to the finals. Players
