It's Biden all the way baby!

When they say "progress" they want to go back to the old days of FDR. When they say "democracy" they really mean the majority votes the way they say they should. "Socialism is for the people, not the socialists."

Bernie, Al Gore, Jim Henson and all the other also-rans trying to tell the winner what to do. What a crowd it's going to be!
mrswdk wrote:I mean, you also said that Bernie would beat Hillary, so I think we'll be taking your predictions with a pinch of salt.

These are generally "establishment" types anyway. These are the people who really don't want to be in the majority. They only want to be reelected and people in authority have to make unpopular decisions at times because they actually have to run the country. I wouldn't want to be an establishment these days either, but Trump has nothing to do with that.

NO, I am saying that the purpose of "establishment" types is to remain "establishment" types. This is a lot like the Miranda clause, anything you say or do can and will be used by your opponent to defeat you. Being in the minority you can in turn promise to do things you know you can't deliver and since you can't deliver it because you are in the minority, the base will forgive you. Being in the majority means you have to actually give your stupid, ignorant base something which in turn will be used to rally the opposition. Fundraising is likewise easier when you try to argue that the problem is with the evil majority on the other side.
Trump will completely upset this apple cart. Being "establishment" is, by the way, highly profitable. Get elected to Washington DC and you will become rich before the end of your term, guaranteed. In Mordor on the Potomac, power is everything. Republicans hold office; Democrats hold power. This is the key.

Because the Democrats hold all the power? Yeah, cool story bro. Go be pseudo smart elsewhere.

Yes. This was a publicity stunt. It was a way to raise MORE MONEY. And you know what ... it works!
Have you ever seen a Democrat in the minority? They fight tooth and nail for everything. Have you ever seen a Republican even when they had the majority in both houses (and when they had the majority in both houses and the Presidency) ever reverse the agenda of the Democrats? NEVER. Does Pelosi even look like the MINORITY leader? Of course not! Hell, even when in the majority the Republican leaders are generally the people of the "we can't do that yet" argument. At one point even Paul Ryan considered himself in the "minority" (when he had a majority of people in the house and the senate).
Republicans (as Andrew Wilkow used to say) need to "fight like Democrats." They don't because they don't want power, they just want to hold office. In the minority, Pelosi and Reed hold more power than Ryan and O'Connell. Don't think so? Where are the Obama vetos? Where are the government shutdowns (hint, the entire capitol shuts down every weekend)?
