That's got to be a shot taken from the Shard, which recently became the tallest building in England and it's still not finished.
No, it's taken from Centrepoint - follow the river to the southeast and you can actually see the Shard (from a few months ago at least).
I can almost see my house, but ...

Re: BBC Book List
These things keep popping up periodically, but they're always really badly put together - eg "Lion, Witch & Wardrobe" listed seperately from "The Narnia Chronicles", and reading the Bible, or the complete Works of Shakespeare or Harry Potter counting as just 1 entry..??

Re: Third Crusade - "one way attacks"
It means you can attack Malta, but they are unable to attack you. It's a fairly common feature of "more complicated" maps. Bear in mind that reinforcements are affected by the one-way aspect too.

Re: Questions about different types of games
Another trick is to click *Start a Game* from the left hand Game menu, then *browse maps* and as you click on on each map, you can view the instructions for each in turn. A common mis-understanding is with "Objective" maps - whatever their victory condition, it must be valid at the beginning of your ...

I work for a bookshop, and we regularly get some of his books - he publishes them himself, and the"company address" is literally a flat on the Isle of White! There always good for a giggle at the end of a long day.....

Re: Running out of turn time after turn started
I'm sure someone with more experience will correct me if I'm wrong, but;
a) No - you've not missed your turn, simply not completed it. (This is the one I'm not 100% on)
b) & c) The board stays as you left it when you ran out of time ie. it doesn't "reset" for the start of the next players turn.

Anything by Neil Gaiman. My favorite is "Neverwhere" - they did a BBC series on it which i haven't seen yet. "American Gods" would be number two on my list. The movie "Stardust" is taken from one of his books.

Another one I read AGES ago and REALLY enjoyed was "Battle Circle" series by Piers Anthony. A tremendous idea, and realize that this is NOT typical Piers Anthony fare. A post-apocalyptic world where hand-to-hand combat decides everything.

Re: The bad luk of dices!
The other reason people seem to remember bad rolls is that generally players don't attack "against the odds" - ie. attack 4v12, 5v18 etc when statistically there is a (admittedly vastly small) chance of these succeeding. This means they only experience bad losing streaks because they're not even ...

Re: Read a good book lately?
I'd agree with the Titus comment. Read the whole trilogy, and have no idea of the general plot (although the BBC did a good adaptation, I think just the first book, about 10-15 years ago), but have a wonderful image of the lands and characters.

Shame it gets over played on a bunch of fun b-movie trailers nowadays, Daybreakers being the big culprit here. Still, It's a good reason for pop music as a a decent genre.
That whole Covers album is worth a listen to be honest.

A good Asimov that doesn't normally get mentioned is The Gods Themselves, and as an alternative to Pratchett I really like Robert Rankin.
