Johnson, easily. Who else on the list was brought up for impeachment and only missed being booted from office by one vote? After his last term as president he got beaten in a Senate race in his home state.

lol, but seriously if a judge breaks the law he/she loses his/her office. We expect earthly judges and officials to uphold the law. Why should it be different for a divine one?

Re: Argue from the wrong point of view (religion edition)

A third option which just came to mind while responding to you is that God is all-knowing & all-powerful, but chose not to prevent the bad thing from happening. This would contradict the claim that God is good, benevolent, or whatever term you wish to describe His nature in positive terms.
I would ...

Re: Private Schools

I'm certainly not rich. For my kids we've selected a private school for my eldest. She began there and loves it (although she's hating the homework load at the moment). We pay for her to go to a school that she likes and experience the best education she can. My son went to the same private school ...

Re: Forced to be atheists (and still refusing)

Well geez it's in the Ten Commandments:

Thou shalt honor God

Thou shalt put no Gods before you but the true God.....

And then proceeds to go on for pages and pages about what happens to people who breaks the ten commandments.

And no, you can't just dismiss it as the ravings of the old testament ...

Re: Forced to be atheists (and still refusing)

Right and what exactly does that one mean? It can just as well mean that everyone who works for good in this life is doing so through Christ's intervention whether they are aware of it or not. It's certainly not Christ's condemnation of everyone who had never heard of him at the time.

For instance ...

Re: Forced to be atheists (and still refusing)

Ah, but there is a big problem with your reasoning:

1) The Juche are physically torturing people right now for holding onto their own beliefs.

Christians on the other hand have had a pretty good track record over the past couple of hundred years with regard to that type of behavior.

2) As far as ...

Yet there is nothing in the Holy Bible that states that any Christian should immerse anyone in lava for not being a Christian. It's not picking nits, that's just not there.

Is anyone disturbed by the fact that, according to the bible, non-christians get the same punishment as those who refuse Juche, and none of the Christians expressing outrage in this thread care about that?

Could you cite a passage for anyone being immolated in molten iron? I missed that one the ...

Re: Forced to be atheists (and still refusing)

People who seek power tend to do so through political not religious channels nowadays.
Unfortunately that is not true. Religion of all kinds have an instant mass audience and support that can't be overlooked. Even George Bush used his Christian knowledge to appeal to conservative voters of both ...
