The Dems Were Planning...

Post by DaGip »

As much as I despise Bush for the whole WMD fiasco, it is quite clear the Democrats were thinking along the same lines. Iraq was getting attacked one way or another.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdquotes.asp

and over what?

Perhaps this should shine some light on the real reason we went to war with Iraq (for oil and protecting the American dollar):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1oPEfa9Lws

Iraq was the first country to start selling their oil in Euros, that took almost one quarter out of America's oil credit card and started other countries to start looking into selling their oil in Euros as well. The war on Iraq is essentially a war between the American dollar and the Euro.

It seems to me that the Dems were planning a war with Iraq as well.

But, as Ron Paul would say, there are other much more dangerous countries out there with WMD's than what Saddam could muster, why don't we attack China or Russia? They pose a much bigger threat to American existence than Iraq.

We give money to the Russians and the Chinese, who in turn make weapons and sell them to Iraq, in which then America must spend trillions of dollars and lose thousands of lives to go in and take them away! Just doesn't make sense. War is the worst foreign policy.

We can't just attack China or Russia. They are both very powerful countries and a war with either one could turn nuclear.

So if China or Russia implement an terrorist attack on the US, then we should go to war with Iran, right?

If we attack China we would have to deal with

Kung-Fu
Ninja Pandas
1 billion midgets
and...Hamster Style.

Russia-
Hordes of people who charge recklessly into battle
Drunks
Where people don't shoot guns, guns shoot people
and...fur coats.
"Eh, whatever."

There is a difference between starting a battle with some one and them bringing us into the fight.

first and foremost, the list begins and ends with ninja pandas in china. Probably about as logistical a nightmare in the field of battle as the bear calvary and they have firmly taken a stance as anti-torture.

With russia you have that annoying problem of an early winter which hoses your entire army. Wed have to invade in like april, only to find out its probably still cold, and winter would hit in may.

... It doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is, and will remain. Too many folks refuse to accept how ugly the "big picture" is, but relationships with nations like China and Russia are necessary to keep the US in the ballgame as the world's leading economic power.

... Money rules all. Once you understand and accept that, everything falls into place... as ugly as it might be.

... A simple point, the People's Republic of China is "guilty" of crimes against its own people, the majority of which we never hear about. Things like drug tests on rural folks who cannot resist... many of whom die or are permanently disabled, a marked increase in the use of the death penalty coinciding with the rise in sales of bodily organs to foreigners (they are harvested from the executed), life prison terms for those critical of the government... I could go on (I spent a lot of time in China).

... Why is none of this on NBC, ABC, CBS news? MSNBC or FOX?

... Money.

You have just utterly crushed my dream job of training Pandas to be ninjas. I hope you're happy.

Actually, this sounds a lot like home.

out of curiosity, do you think things like the Olympics help to curb some of that in the short term to an extent? While id agree that all of that is likely to happen and continue to happen, id almost assume that given some international events have to hold some of those things in check for a little while at least.

... Curb it? Perhaps. The Chinese have tried to deal with a number of sensitive issues in the lead-up to the Olympics. Street vendors in Beijing who are extremely aggressive have had their licenses taken away, homeless have been bussed to camps in remote areas west of the city and most of the major industrial centers around Beijing have been closed, in an attempt to let the air get a little cleaned up.

... Also, foreign journalists are having government-assigned assistants who will travel with them throughout. "Assistants"... (who are meant to keep them away from potentially sensitive stories - this is my own take on it, though).

i have a buddy who is teaching in china right now, reminds me to ask him about some of the things he thought about it in general.

I wouldnt doubt that bit about the assistants at all, that would seem like the easiest way to guide the press around some of the sensitive things without losing complete credibility...even if people could see through it.

Add some laserbeams to their heads and you've got the military ultimatum.

That's for the sharks and temper-mental dolphins. The bears get lightsabers instead.

I wish this war were about oil. The United States could fund the war effort with the oil produced In Iraq and my wallet would do a little dance...

Oil was supposed to fund reconstruction. Too bad those pesky insurgents won't let us get oil to market. Remember the post-war looting when we just wanted to make sure nobody touched the Ministry of Oil? Kinda how this whole thing got kick-started.

british olympians banned from participating in protests or condemning any facet of chinese totalitarianism &c

america soon to follow, naturlich.

i think someone is bound to make a stand on a podium though...

probably a kenyan.

it would be interesting to see how they dealt with dissent from a native gold medalist on the day.. live broadcasts and the media whipping up a storm about it and all. probably a blind eye and some thinly veiled threats

Similar instances supposedly happened in Atlanta in '96, homeless people being told to leave and stay out of the city, also officers ordered to charge homeless with the most minor, petty infractions. Most couldn't pay so they were arrested.

This war was not a pursuit of oil. If it was the United States would be making money off of the oil fields in Iraq. Frankly I wish this was the case but it's not.
