He has evidently got the job for his qualifications and experience in 'community management', management being they key word. He is more qualified for this job that someone who has played 5000 games.

But then there is the whole opposite arguement that recruiting from the outside brings new life, experience, technique, theory, view and approach to a buisness. It is very common for organisations to employee high level managers from outside there own organisation.
