sexist comment in grievance

Post by Song-LiuWen »

Joshp made insulting sexist comments in one of his grievances ("pull up your big girl panties"). Though I was not receiving it, I happened to be viewing it. This shows a clear misogyny for women and a clear disrespect, and sheer discrimination. I demand he be expelled from CC for this reason. Such an atmosphere of malice is not conducive for CC.

Also, please prohibit or ban toof from playing, his comments are even more sexist and more childish. If you see the grievances he leaves behind, it is also very superficial, inappropriate, misogynic and offensive.

actually...I'm sorry, but I disagree, and here's why.

I am a female (as you can tell by the avatar) and not only have received that statement "put on your big girl panties and deal with it" I've given it. I don't see it as sexist at all. If someone said "pull up your big boy boxers..." no one would have given it a second thought.

I do respect your opinion on this, but respectfully disagree. What is the game number that he said that?

Yes, but it's a disturbing cultural trend.

The inappropriate grievances were filed C423321 (for the panties comment) and philsta respectively. They have other grievances filed against them, but these two (made by toof and joshp) are highly inappropriate.

I can see the complaines about toof...I just can't find a game with you and joshp. What game were you in where he said that? I just wanted to peek..I don't see him in the scoreboard either. I think I'm typing it right???

It wasn't filed against me. I had a person in my game who had a grievance, filed by someone who had grievances themselves, who had three people who had filed grievances (them having multiple grievances themselves) so this web led me to these comments.

(As a side remark the politics that are being played out and the nature of reciprocity is already becoming a problem to me.)

I'm sorry if I'm offending you, because if I am, it is totally unintentional. I wanted to see it, so I know if he gets in a game with me, I'm ready. Since the iggy list is gone, I wanted to check it out.

I don't see him under that name anywhere - on the scoreboard at all either. Could he be going under a different name?

I love your irony! Beautiful! And you seemed to have fooled Phx99 that you had made a serious post!

It wasn't my intention to be ironic. There was no satire involved there whatever. I honestly believe in a zero tolerance policy and think people who make defamatory comments of any kind shouldn't be playing CC.

I tend to agree...I use that expression all the time, and I don't mean it in a sexist way. I think if a WOMAN can say that, it's not that bad. We are tougher than a lot of men....lol!

Oh. My bad. Thought it was to stiff to be serious. What's wrong? Do you have your period right now?

EDIT: Hehe... couldn't resist. But seriously, "defamatory comments" and "shouldn't be playing..." I would think that since CC is a public space, one has to be able to read comments one doesn't like. Life isn't always neat and not always ordered along our individual preferences. Being part of any society means that we don't always get what we want. I know, I know... life isn't fair. But no one really promised that it is suppose to be. I suggest that until someone writes something really bad (there are limits to what one must be able to stand, but this comment you pointed out wasn't even near that limit) you just have to learn how to deal with it.

LOL I've never heard that comment before ... but then again, I usually don't pay attention to assinine intellectually-lacking comments like those, unless of course Kool's spouting off, in which case, it's entertaining.

uhh, was that comment even directed at a female??? Why do you care if it wasn't directed at you?

Having lived, and worked, in extremely male-dominated fields, I can see how some women might be offended if they're not used to that type of "environment". All I can advise is to develop a thicker skin and a sense of humor... and go shopping with the girls as often as possible.

It sets a bad example, for one thing. Is this the kind of thing we should teach children, ie. it's acceptable to make remarks implying that the other sex has less fecundity?

Are you trolling or do you really believe in what you are saying? At best, the remark should be removed, but it should hardly result in any disciplinary action.

Somehow I think there are a lot worse things on the internet rotting kid's minds to worry about stupid little comments like these. I don't think anyone is coming here for etiquette lessons.

And if you're really that concerned with boys thinking girls are less superior in any way, have them come play a CC game with me.

WTH, over? I am reeeeeeasonably intelligent, but this makes no sense to me.

I'll get my 9 year old to come and explain it to me (hopefully he won't collapse in hysterics from the abusive nature of this thread....).

FECUNDITY!! Maybe I'll add that to my sig.....hmmmmmmm
