Put Esc back the way it was
I would like to see the increase in the size of esqualating spoils returned to what it was. I believe the change is causing the opposite of the intent. Perhaps that is only my experience in which case I will not worry about it.
What I have experienced is the following: Because of the increased size of a set, a person who is almost out of the game is now very much back in the game. Particularly in trench it is becoming almost impossible to eliminate someone. I have noticed this on maps such as Conquer Rome that routinely go 10+ rounds at least (normal game).
Example Game 13910367 which has now gone to Round 25, next set worth 3070.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
I think the change is causing the effect it was designed to cure. i.e. Bringing games to a close. I think the change (which I agreed with) has gone the wrong direction.

Did you play Escalating Trench before the change? It was basically the same thing.

Re: Put Esq back the way it was
Yes I did but one could contain an opponent and account for his set. That doesn't feel possible now. At this point in this map at least two should be gone.
That's my feeling anyway. If I am all alone I will just chalk it up to 'that's the way the chips fell' but if others experience the same then I wanted to know.
Like I said I was in favor of the reason the change was made. I just think this didn't accomplish what was intended.

I am not sure the suggestion in question was designed for Trench games, as most of the posts were pre-dated trench.

Trench and Escalating is a bad combination any way you slice it.
I love Escalating and I sometimes love Trench, but not at the same time. The wild free-roaming game that Esc is designed for is the opposite of the patient, positional game that Trench is designed for.

Looking at that game, it indeed looks very stupid, you manage to contain an oppenent, he still manages to grab cards though and suddenly boom, 3 set he is troopleader again!
I think stuff like this is discouraging to people to play specific settings, in this case escalating fog!
I generally dislike trench already so don't ask me all to much about it

Sorry to come in late here but never having heard of these changes, how big are we talkiing? I play escalating games (Feud Fog) all the time and hate to think that something ENORMOUS may soon stumble out of the darkness towards me...had a quick look but couldn't find any mention of such changes?

Basicly above 100 troops the next set is worth 100 + 10% = 110, the one after that 110 + 10% = 121 (but lowered to 120 I thought), and so on.

I'm in the middle of a trench/escalating game right now. Yes, it's painful. But it wasn't fundamentally different before the change occurred; it's just that the troop counts are quite a bit higher now.

This game was probably created before the change went live; the change was not applied retroactively.

I see. My bad
Re: Put Esq back the way it was
I love the change b/ of the impact it's had on standard, non trench escalating games. No longer near as likely to stalemate, thanks CC
Re: Put Esq back the way it was
YES!!! Put Escalating back the way it was! It's getting to high with the Trench games I'm playing with friends. We lost the real challenge and fun of it. TOO HIGH!!! The people who agreed with that were not enjoying the TRench at all, nor the Escalating even.

Strongly agree with The Poet... The new escalating spoils may work fine with your regular sunny escalating games since most don't last much past 100+ spoils anyways. But it's killed all trench escalating games (a setting I loved and played a lot before) by increasing too quickly; Once spoils get crazy, it's virtually impossible to trap or move around the map because the next set played is going to wipe out virtually ANY stack you have. Even with these settings before I never had a stalemate, but now virtually ALL large escalating trench games look like they're going to stalemate. The new spoils have made this setting unplayable.
Less grievous, fog escalating games swing a little too much on cards in my opinion. Yes, games may end sooner, but I think you're rewarding luck in cards over game play.
Lastly, fog trench escalating round limit games are no longer viable. I've played many 5 player / 20 round limit games. It's a standard build up, keep getting cards, hold on for the win. Unfortunately, with the spoils gaining 10% each set, those last few rounds of spoils can vary by more than 100+ troops. You're rewarding turn order (who plays last) instead of who played best throughout the game, more than ever before.
Long story short... One perceived issue was "fixed" with the new escalating spoils and changed the dynamic negatively in many more less played escalating settings. I don't see this as a positive improvement for this site. Consider this a vote for changing things back.

Add me as a +1 return to standard (old) escalating sets. I love(d) esc but think the new system is just bad from what ive experienced & seen

Add a poll. That would be more useful.

Re: Put Esq back the way it was
A bug regarding the max number of troops. This seems to be connected to the new escalating spoils.... And it's only in round 90.

Yeah these new ones are causing troops to go into way big numbers way too soon, especially for trench.

Re: Put Esq back the way it was
This isn't really related to the escalating issue but just to the poor way that we handle large numbers of rolls, which almost certainly needs to be revamped at some point.

But since that hasn't been addressed, for now it can be reverted back to the original esc so the game is playable until those mass dice rolls are fixed.

Re: Put Esq back the way it was
Since the possibility of a stalemate inspired the change in escalating, and we now have the round limit feature to avoid stalemates, I vote for returning to the previous system.
