5 beds 7.5 baths on ideal property for $15M?
Sounds reasonable to me
Here is a similar one in my rich neck of the woods, East Hampton, Long Island, NY
http://www.trulia.com/property/10509183 ... n-NY-11937
6 bedrooms 7 1/2 baths, close but not on the water. A touch under $13M

I still don't understand why people buy mansions in the countryside. What are you going to do when you're actually there? With your 4 neighbors and no proper amenities nearby?

I can't say what they do on the west coast, but the Hamptons at the end of Long Island are a "happening" place. Everyone who is anyone from New York City has a place there to retreat to during the summer. This has been the case for generations. Beach areas are loved by the rich, since it is a change of pace from city life.

The one I pointed out is on a super crowded little lake 10 miles south of Portland...exclusivity of the stupid lake is the draw here and it is PACKED with McMansions.
I, on the other hand, would get a couple hunnert acres in the boonies and a private plane. What do you do? Whatever the F*&^% you want!!! lol

Yeah, but where are the Korean restaurants and cocktail bars?
Re: Joint for sale down the road from me....
I had a brilliant inspiration today for a business idea.
The company is called G.L.A.S.C. The slogan is "Responsible Luxury" and it specializes in building big-ass fancy houses with disproportionately small eco-footprints. $15 million mansions built out of recycled tires, with all the latest high-tech energy-reducing technologies.
G.L.A.S.C. stands for "Gaia's Linguists Are So Cunning" (because we're being very nice to the earth, get it?) but of course you never confirm or deny what the acronym stands for. It's just an inside joke that helps build the company's mystique.
