I thought offering cash prizes was against site rules? Am I missing something?

The event will not be a 16 person bracket. I will start small to make sure we have a correct format and structure to create additional events.
First (1) round matches will be generated by Sunday afternoon and players will have until Tuesday at noon (12 EST) to complete the bo3 series.
2nd round matches will then be generated on Tuesday afternoon and players will have until Thursday at 7 PM EST to complete the bo3 series.
3rd round matches will be generated on Thursday at 7 PM EST and you will have until Sunday afternoon to complete them.
The semis and finals will be the following Monday night, starting at 8 PM EST and will be SPEED maps (bo3 semis, bo5 finals and 3rd place)
Does this sound more doable. By the time we get the semis and finals, there should be no excuses for players not showing up. If you fail to join your matches and finish them, then your opponent is rewarded a Forfeit win.
Hmm - I'm wondering what will happen if players show up at different times? Imagine both players show up equally, but never at the same time, and therefore don't get games played. For speed games they have to be there simultaneously.
The more flexible we are.. the more likely we are for the structure to break down and not be consistent.
I agree, and therefore for your format of tournament I would strongly suggest all players must be present at the stated time, rather than some time up until until 'Tuesday at noon'?

That is because it is expressly against the site's rules to do so...read the tournament organizers rules and you'd realize that. Stay away people. I smell a scam or at the least a clueless guy.

Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
From the tournament handbook
"You may, if you so choose, offer a real prize of a Conquer Club membership to the winner(s). If you do this, Conquer Club will generously match 100% whatever prize you offer. You may distribute the matched membership, in 3 month or larger segments, however you wish to your winner(s) or for a future tournament."
Gift certificates for premium status are okay...it says nothing about cash prizes, which I think opens a huge can of worms. This guy says he wants to eventually award $500 cash for these small 16/32-players tournaments??? And it's all free to sign up??? Now way I'm registering on his site...stay away...far away.
I'm surprised this made it into the tournament forum in the first place.

The TDs are aware of it and it is allowed. There can't be an entry fee, CC will not provide matched prizes. It is up to the participants whether they want to give their personal information out to another website not affiliated with CC.

I'd happily pay 10 dollars to get more TOs organising speed tournaments - there aren;t many of us out there.
However, I am ore than happy to help out with this tounament at the live stage, as an assistant (free)

It looks like registration on the other web=site has closed!
I'm not sure if this one will go ahead - no updates from TO for a few days and various details to be ironed out?
What's the story?

Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
i have put down those that have said they will sign up and will be going through the list today.
Due to a family issue, I will need to extend the start date to next Sunday. I apologize. This is not normal for a tournament that I run, but this issue has made it very difficult for me to have the time over the last few days to address these issues.
I will address some of the concerns raised regarding the 'other site' later today and will announce the FINAL details today as well.
I truly apologize to those that have already signed up. I will add you all to my friends list and send a personal message as well confirming your entry.
I assure you, the prize money is real and no information that we request is for anything other then the tournament and the payout of prizes.
Thank you,
John 'El Grande' Clark

Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
hey i want to tune in to this tournament. I am in sign me up.
Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
I have extended the sign ups until this coming Saturday afternoon.. but I need all of those interested in playing to sign up on the CSN ( www.cyber-sports.net ) website and JOIN the event. This tournament is much different then what you all are used to as it will have a real bracket system and will be ran from an eSports website. I will still generate the matches from the CC site.. but players will be populated on the CSN brackets, scores will be reported there and updates to winners and losers will also be announced on the CSN site.
Of course, I will also use the forums to announce the winners and give updates on the tournament.
It only takes about 2 minutes to create an account on the CSN website, find the CC event and choose SIGN UP. Once you are signed up.. you can use the EVENT forums/comments section to post comments or just sit tight until your match has been generated.
UPDATES:
In order to keep things simple and moving along, I will choose the 1st round settings for all of the maps, except the Tie Breaker.
The Tie Breaker map will be decided on (FROM THE MAP POOL) by the higher ranked player (using their CC ranking points).
PLEASE CHECK THE SITE FOR COMPLETE RULES AND DETAILS!!

this is my official sign up on CC, however any details i choose to give out on this un-related website to CC may be 100% incorrect. as CC refuses to say they are in any way related to this 3rd site i'm sure the admins will have no problem with this >.<
PS: damn CC has changed alot since when i started ^_^

Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
ya.. i have no issue with you using incorrect information.. *until of course if you win. Then we will need your information to send you the prize money.
We need more people signed up for this.. it perplexes me that some of the tournaments can get over 300 players.. for no prize at all. I am offering $150 in prizing... and we have only 7 peeps signed up.
Continue to sign up and make sure you register for the bracket on the cyber-sports.net site.
Just view the other site as a place to SHOW brackets .. thats all it really is. Instead of me making a site.. I am simply using the site with brackets at my disposal to host the event and keep it organized.

You may find sign-ups come quicker if you follow some of the suggestions I have posted above.
At the moment, it is unclear when exactly the games will be played, what the settings are, and what contingency plans are in place if anyone doesn't show up.

I guess the problem for most of the guys is that they sign up in that website and think they are in, but you should join the event too after sign up, there is a link in info of the event that you can see after sign up if I'm right, you should use it to join the event too, I see people telling in here but didn't join the event on that web site and that's why there is only 7 singed up players in that website.
Check this link to make sure you are singed up in the event too:

Re: Play CC, Win Cash Cup #1 $100.00 in Prizes!!
Flex.. I have been running online gaming events for 10 years.. There is nothing shady about what I am doing here. Just this last Sunday we ran a Star Craft II event where over 7000 people were tuned into a stream to watch the matches. Along with that, this next Sunday we are offering a $500 prize pool to a 64 person SC2 event.
Online ESports is the real deal.. its more about you not understanding this fact and understanding that organizations do indeed put out prizes for video games. I love CC.. so it made sense for me to offer the community an opportunity to cash in on the thousands of dollars that are pushed out each month for playing video games online competitively.
Umm.. heard of the Intel Extreme Masters Series? I was in NYC in September as the Tournament Director for the North America Series... in which we gave out over 90K in prizing.
This stuff is real.. sign up and see.. or just watch someone else win it and take home the prize
Eitherway.. I will continue to run these events as long as there are players willing to play in it.
The reason for a speed setup is so that the event can be finished quickly and results are displayed quickly as well... so that winners can take home prizes and we can move onto getting others on the site for additional tournaments.
Its really just a matter of players not being used to an actual 'esports' setup. We will get there... I promise.
Thanks
