swimmerdude99 wrote:They certainly aren't breaking addons purposefully. You do realize these are add-ons? So the programers of the site are doing their thing to improve it. The add-ons are well... add-ons. Would I like them to try and implement some of these in the coding of the site? Yes. But I certainly don't believe they are doing it intentionally or any such thing. The add-on creators have their code each. There is no way that the site programmers could make sure every add-on still works when they program their site. If you don't know how programming languages work all that well, then just take my word for it! If you do, then think through how programming works and how silly it is to expect them to program their site according to existing add-ons.
Again I'll have to quote the shortest sentence from the best selling fiction tome of all time.

How many times do I have to state that I realise they are add ons. In fact for most people with a modicum of reading comprehension proficiency the fact that I called the add ons, add ons, might suggest some realisation.

Well there is, it however would take a lot of time and probably not be too practical. So if you find out after the fact that you broke something useful, have the decency to fix it. Pretty simple. Fixing it might be difficult, but acknowledging the f*ck up shouldn't be that difficult. <Blake puts hand up> "Hey guys sorry I fucked up map rank, might take a while but we are trying to make it up to you" See that wasn't to hard was it?
swimmerdude99 wrote:If you don't know how programming languages work all that well, then just take my word for it!
Last time I did any programming was over 25yrs ago on a 486SX in quick basic, also dabbled in C+, never made it to turbo C. I imagine that programming has moved on a hell of a lot since then.... Maths however stays the same. What one programmer writes, another programmer of equal or similar competence should be able to edit / and or replicate.
swimmerdude99 wrote:If you do, then think through how programming works and how silly it is to expect them to program their site according to existing add-ons.
Not asking about all existing add ons. Just two. Can the site programmers fix maprank and clickies? If they can't they are fucking useless. I would like to think they can, just don't want to take the time to do so. Don't care about the other add ons as much. Just two, the two I'm sounding like a broken record about. The two that people can't wrap their head around the fact that they were working well for a lot of people, having them not work is unacceptable interference in functioning of site for many users. I understand that map rank is not an easy fix as the variables in poly games make a straight data base look up difficult. A few more variables, makes for harder work. Well that is why they are paid the big bucks. The fact that map rank still works after a fashion using game finder, and that there is site offered medal stats(which include collection of poly data) means that the information is still accessible. Programmers have to find a fix to collate information in a standard format. Freezing at 98% pretty lame.

No, it was professionally developed by CGI !LOL, if you didn't know already, they are the ones who created the ObamaCare website! Couldn't resist that opportunity!

fixing clickies is a waste of time considering that the website has its own clickies function now

you're insane.... site clicks and the add-on are completely different... in that, site clicks blow, and the add-on is good...

Never said a word about the old one. I only voice my opinion because I feel like a 12 year logging into CC now with this shit home page. Big ass ugly add in my face. I know you need to make some money by placing adds but a quarter of the screen? KISS Keep It Simple Stupid!

I never use clickies, but aren't they supposed to be integrated? Also, maybe the Site Owner should create a Map Rank for the site. I for one think that would be an awesome tool.
Bollocks.
The site clickies aren't as good as the script.

I will agree that the new homepage is much too cluttered. The old one worked well for me, because it gave me insight into forums (major updates) and kept it simple. Also the initial wording conflicts with the graphics lower left. If you want to cater to casual cater to casual. Likewise for competitive or making the point that both are okay but don't send mixed messages. The color scheme isn't bad, but you have a huge looping PP graphic catching the eye more than anything. Also fix the homepage so that if I'm logged in it doesn't make it seem like I'm not.

Actually, the new home page is an interesting use of JavaScript (jquery.min.js). The script they wrote is obfuscated, (all the variable names are change to a, b, c, … so it is hard for anyone to understand it), but basically it redesigns the page based on the size of the browser window that is displaying it. You can change the size of your browser, make it wide and narrow, to see what I mean!
Kind of cool, definitely geeky, but totally unnecessary. You can hardly play the games if your browser window is too narrow, so why make the home page look good on small screens!
Well, someone at CC had fun and showed off their JavaScript talent! In this case GG doesn’t mean good game, it mean good geeking!

You know what's hilarious? I said that exact same thing to one of my clanmates on Skype when I first saw the front page. It is the perfect April fool joke. It would have beaten the comic sans pink day by a mile.
+1
and that's one of my favourites from The Oatmeal. It's basically an example of clients from hell, and I've experienced them. "My auntie's dog did a 1 day a week course in design, so she'd like to have an input."
...but works in that context too.
It requires someone to sit down, get a pencil and paper and draw out exactly what they want to appear on the front page. If you're designing something important like that, you have to plan it out. You can't go straight to the computer and start putting stuff together and thinking "I'll fit this here and this here." That's not how design works and that is most definitely what happened in this case. You need to have a plan of what you are going to do before you go near a design program. That means researching what other sites have done and coming up with a really nice idea. They also need input from someone who has training in the field, not a photoshop wizard.

Old script clickies work again for me, did you change it back to the old system? Some people said they were able to use those scripts all the time.
