I have friends who are atheists but class their ethnicity as 'Jewish'. From what they tell me, two fairly distinct ethnic groups (I forget the names, but they're those Jews who moved along North Africa and into Spain during the Roman Empire and those Jews who moved through Italy into Europe in the first couple of centuries AD) make up 95% of the Jewish population worldwide. The Second group actually made up 90% of that total itself before the Holocaust. Thats a fairly contained ethnic group. Much more so than the very broad label of Caucasian. They share more similar genes, physical characteristics and whatever than many of the other groups on the list.

However, Nordic peoples, Slavs, Celts, tribes from central Asia... None of those peoples are in any way semitic. Specifically, Caucasians are not semitic, nor are Iranians.
