oh... maybe for that, fuzzy select the area around england, and fill that with a color darker than the parchment (same shade, but darker) and then set that layer to 28-50% opacity

I'd like to get a better visual idea of what the gameplay would be like on the map. How the territories will be grouped, etc.

But the base is looking really nice, though I'm not too sure the title font fits. Thats laters prob though, in all likelihood.

1) Something I forgot to mention. The sides are still a little rough. Maybe try saving it, then zooming in to 800% and taking a small fuzzy 3 paintbrush around the edges. Dont do slow, careful motions, but rather fast, semi-careful motions. That way, since its at 800%, if you mess up slightly and cut into it, it should'nt make much of a difference.
2) Lower the opacity on the flowers. They are to bright and colorful compared to the rest of the map, so lowering the opactiy to 50 or below should help. Also, try playing around with the layer modes.
3) The title is also to bright, and its to blurry. Looks like your using Blackmoor LET, which is a pretty good choice, but maybe try adding some different fonts to your GIMP that may work better. Maybe something like this: http://www.dafont.com/olde-english.font
[bigimg]http://www.militarysabers.com/images/sword-etches/engravers-old-english-large.jpg[/bigimg]

If you cant figure out how to get it into GIMP, just drop me a pm

4) Also, dont rotate it. Make sure its just the right size so that it fits between the top of the red flower and that small hole in the paper right next to the northern tip of england. Also, maybe have the color black, and again lower the opacity to 50% or lower.
5) For a compass, you first need more room for it. Try stretching the width of the parchment some (50-100 pixels) and then you should have more room. And maybe after stretching it center england on it, and center the parchment.

Be sure to save before you try doing any of these things. Its always good to be careful!

1. will get to work on the sides
2. the flowers opacity is at 29.8 right now
3. thats the font im using...but will try your suggestion
4. I rotated so it would fit an still be big...will try not to rotate though...
5. Cant really stretch the parchment...My map is already at the limits for size... 840 * 800

stretching just the parchment shouldnt affect the canvas size. It will just make the parchment larger on the table

1) The compass needs to be a little larger
2) The names you added are more of continent names then territory names. Try researching for different names you can use
3) Now that the background of the map is looking better, you need to work on the gameplay and bonuses. I suggest having a bonus for holding london, since thats a major city

edit: maybe look at this

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl= ... s%26sa%3DN

look at the full sized image, and look at the different images on the page

so ive been thinking on how to incoporate impassable borders...im going to put in mountains and rivers...
I also plan on installing docks (thank you Natewolfman) so gameplay isnt so centralized...and holding continents will be harder...
I also will install battlegrounds from the War of the Roses...holding those will give you a bonus...
I will be adding legend later...perhaps in two or more updates
yet does anyone else have any other ideas?

Need some terr names and legends etc before I can consider this for stamp!

Right now I feel that there is to much deadspace not being used, maybe that will change with legends etc but I would like to see an incrase in the playable area size if at all possible.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

It's looking nice, but I have no idea about gameplay. You should start working out territory names & bonusses to get an idea of how the map will play.

At the moment there is far too much wasted space, particularly on the small version. You can crop a lot closer to the coastline. Yes, you'll lose some of the table/parchment background, but it will be a lot clearer.
