bob snaps just went goofy 4-9-12

Post by tec805 »

Two of us are looking at Stalingrad and snaps just went kablooey. Checked other games and snaps were messed up also. We both have been running 5.2.2 since the last update. Anyone else?

Probably has to do with the latest update. Trench warfare.

everyone that I have communicated with is reporting it as well-colors, troop counts, and pretty much everything is not reporting the correct information. Nice April Fools Joke

In addition, BOB no longer seems to be reporting how many enemy terts are in fog. The foggy terts are all being counted as neutrals.

Yeah, same here - showing colors & numbers that seem completely random.

This is due to a change in the way fog is being displayed, which broke BOB's determination of the fog option and everything that relies on it. I've sent [player]sherkaner[/player] a fix.

That is likely the same fix I figured out last night. He agrees it should resolve the problem. I hope when he finishes work (a few hours from now) he will be able to perform the update and sort everything out.

Will the fix fix the current snapshots? Or was it more efficient (coding-wise) to make the fix work for all future snapshots?

In other words, will the snapshots that I have in ongoing games be accurate again or are they just lost?

Good job! I think that's the fastest fix I've ever seen on this site.

I think it doesn't fix snapshots that were taken when the behavior was wrong (so between the time of the update and now). But snapshots from before the update should work now.
Kinda annoying to find it out now, I have to check whether it could have been prevented somehow.

I am very surprised that the developers of one of the most popular (the most popular?) tools on CC wasn't made privy to the update. I'm very happy with the update, but wow. You'd think you would have been told about it.

They knew about the update. They just didn't realize it was going to effect the scripts like it did.

It sounds like this was fixed, but I updated and am still having issues with recent snapshots. What am I missing?

TIA

If the snapshots were taken while the script was broken, I think they are unrecoverable. Do new snapshots look okay?

Make sure you are running the latest version of everything. Keep in mind that some very old snapshots may never work again after an update.
