This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. For a brief period of my youth I lived in Western Kansas and the people there were fond of saying "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute and it'll change." This trite bit of small-talk fodder is the inspiration for my latest tournament. The winning team will have made it through seven rounds of alternating "hot" and "cold" maps and will be crowned "Western Kansas Small Talkin' Champs." For the first round, match-ups will be determined by highest seed against lowest seed based on a teams combined score. But here's the twist--after each round the winners as well as a decreasing number of "wild card" teams will advance. From the 2nd round onward matchups will be randomly determined by random.org. The "wild card" teams will be the ones who A) won a single game in the round and B) had the greatest total number of game rounds played throughout that round. Game round totals reset with each new tournament round, and if there are not enough teams who won a single game "wild cards" will be based on total game rounds alone. If an additional tiebreaker is needed it will be a coin flip. The only other special rule in this tourney is that any teams who have missed a turn in the current round of play will be ineligible to advance via the "wild card" route. This is so teams can't add rounds to their totals by delaying games that are essentially over. Premium only as you will be required to play three games at the same time. All you need to join is post in this thread with the names of your teammates. All games will be trips/sequential/escalating/chained/sunny, and rounds will be best of three. Without any further ado, let's look at the details for each round.
Round One: Cities (32 Teams) Hong Kong Chicago Charleston (if necessary) Who advances? The 16 winning teams plus 8 "wild cards" for a total of 24 teams.
Round Two: Small Countries (24 teams) Thailand Kingdom of Denmark Jamaica (if necessary) Who advances? The 12 winning teams plus 4 "wild cards" for a total of 16 teams.
Round Three: Regions (16 teams) Middle East Nordic Countries Oceania (if necessary) Who advances? The 8 winning teams plus 2 "wild cards" for a total of 10 teams.
Round Four: Large Countries (10 teams) Brazil Canada Mexico (if necessary) Who advances? The 5 winning teams plus 1 "wild card" for a total of 6 teams.
Round Five: Continents (6 teams) South America Antarctica Africa II (if necessary) Who advances? The 3 winning teams plus 1 "wild card" for a total of 4 teams.
Round Six: The Extremes (4 teams) Extreme Global Warming Arctic Bamboo Jack (if necessary) Who advances? The 2 winning teams only. No more "wild cards" but the would be "wild card" from this round gets to choose the third and potentially deciding map (from among those used in this tournament) for the Final Round.
Final Round: TBD (maps to be chosen from among those used in this tournament)(2 teams) Map One: Chosen by Team One Map Two: Chosen by Team Two Map Three: Chosen by Round Six's would-be "wild card" (if necessary)
