[Game]...[/Game] Tag *DONE!*

It'd be pretty handy if the forum supported a [game]...[/game] tag where you could drop in a game number and have it automatically expanded into a link to the game. Likewise for [player]...[/player] to link to someone's profile.

That's a brilliant idea, I'm always mean to link directly to games, but then I just get lazy and enter in the number so others can search for it themselves.

If someone wants to look into how you add tags to BBCode and post and easy solution that doesn't require changing the phpBB files, I'll probably do it!

I would hazard a guess that you could work a "simple" mod based on the following which adds a horzontal rule [hr] tag, just replace that stuff with the game number URL

Or use http://www.phpbb.com/files/mods/google_bbcode_120a.mod which makes a link a google search (which may apply more in this case) but requires a 2nd mod to make it work.

I dont think there is an easy way

i think that in the forums callouts, you should be able to post a link which players can click to directly join the game, or be taken to an info page with a join button at the bottom. It could just be like at the top of the posting box, where there is a quote, url, img button and all that there could be a "game" button. You click it, a window pops up and says "enter the game number" you type it in, click ok, and it inserts a little button/link that says "join" or something, and you click it and you either instantly join it or you are taken to an info page like i mentioned earlier.

When you create your game - go find it... then right click on the link and goto "properties"...

Copy and paste the link into your Forum post highlight it and then press the URL button on the top right...

Could you create a special forum tag that references games?

It could be of the format -

Code: Select all

[gid=123456789]Description[/gid]

or

Code: Select all

[gid]123456789[/gid]

And what it would do is stick the URL= jazz and the http://www.conq... stuff on the front and make it real easy like to post your games.

Makes it easier for us to create a URL in forum posts to our games...

For example at present you have to write
[code]Click me for my game[code]

My plan is to turn that into...

[code][gid=363543]Click me for my game[/gid][/code]
or
[code][gid]363543[/gid][/code]

and then the forum will turn that into the above...

Alternatively could be a special button that asked for a game ID and then did it for you!!

Hey, I just thought a really great idea that would help with the organising of tourneys especially would be a [game]1234567[/game] tab that linked game numbers to game join pages, so all you have to do is click the link and enter the password...

What do you think?
