Risk Video!

Post by stringybeany »

the old link has expired, here's a fresh one as of 5/17/2014!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VigrrTVw5jg

it's -still- a great layered metaphor/analogy/simile for a risk escalating game.

follow the link to view a super visual analogy of a risk game in progress. It's titled "Balance-Lauenstein"

Enjoy!

(the "eliminations" are the best part!)

If you think it worth while for others, give the thread a bump.

Only Germans could think of such a thing. And I mean that in a good way.

no cards game obviously...if it were escalating, they'd have been hitting each other with the sticks more

on the contrary i think it was escalating. notice how the guy that sat on the box started eliminating the others one by one using the movement momentum?
i think it was a clear case of cash-in eliminate cash-in eliminate.

51 and 23 are busted as multis. It was pretty obvious considering they always made their moves one after the other and the names were both two digit numbers.

What a film. :)
It sure brought a lot of suspense. :)
I do say that the guy that was hanging on the edge was probably spared for a while.

It's definitely escalating. The box is the next cash.

The link again:"Balance-Lauenstein"

I'm starting to think this video may actually have Risk as part of its inspiration. Notice the case is shaped like one of the original wooden Risk armies. Painted red even.

Each player is even tagged with his board strength on the back of his coat.

Too many damn parallels to be coincidence.

simple, irresistibly compelling, sinister and about as complicated as your mind is capable of making it...

Well...I don't know. I'd say "fun" and "interesting". I have a real hard time getting to "sinister" though.

you don;t get sinister ? .. for me it was a metaphor for the perpetual motion required for the fine balancing of society; with it's group of selfish individuals working cohesively for the whole, as ultimately it is in the interest of the individual... the film alluded to the ease with which it can all go tits-up.

more literally; the platform is in fact the representation of a kebab shop full of drunk blokes after closing time and the box is the arrival of an attractive, semi-clad lady fresh and sweaty from a nightclub.

 watching the blocking... and then rapidly eliminating players... definetly escalating strategy...

Really enjoyed it...

Who's seen National Treasure Book of Secrets?

All I could think about when they were on the balance table was this video.

Haha, me too.

This is a really cool video, even if you don't consider its Risk-like qualities or underlying metaphors about the conditions of society or whatever.
